Happy Holidays everyone! Cryptozoo News / Loren Coleman has posted his list of Top Ten Cryptozoology Books of the Year. I’m honored to have landed the #1 spot with my new book Lizard Man. I must thank Anomalist Books for their commitment to publish excellent cryptozoology titles, including Karl Shuker’s Mirabilis which was chosen as #4. Congratulations to my other colleagues and fellow Cryptomundo contributors that also made the list. 2013 was a year of great books, all deserving of praise. Here’s a few of the highlights…

Darin Naish returns to MonsterTalk to discuss his latest book, Cryptozoologicon: Volume I. From the well known to the very obscure, this book takes three looks at monsters. It critically examines them, but also speculates on what they might be like if they were real…
Lyle Blackburn is an author, musician, and cryptozoologist from Texas. His latest book ‘Lizard Man‘ reflects his life-long fascination with legends and sighting reports of real-life monsters. Lyle has often explored the remote reaches of the southern U.S. in search of shadowy creatures said to inhabit the dense backwoods and swamplands of these areas. He also wrote the well-received ‘The Beast of Boggy Creek‘ and is a staff writer and cryptozoology advisor to ‘Rue Morgue’ magazine. This promises to be a fascinating discussion! Make sure you mark down this date and time! LIVE Sunday December 1st at 8:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM CT

On this episode the guys talk with Lyle Blackburn about his two books “Beast of Boggy Creek” and “Lizard Man”. Lyle Blackburn is an author, musician, and cryptozoologist from Texas. His investigative cryptozoology books, “The Beast of Boggy Creek” and “Lizard Man,” reflect his life-long fascination with legends and sighting reports of real-life ‘monsters.’ During his research, Lyle has often explored the remote reaches of the southern U.S. in search of shadowy creatures said to inhabit the dense backwoods and swamplands of these areas.
I was doing research on monster sightings that have occurred in various swamps locations around the southeast U.S. In the process I actually visited swamps in several different states, including Scape Ore Swamp near Bishopville, South Carolina. As I interviewed people in the area, including law officials and witnesses, I realized there was much more to the story of the Bishopville Lizard Man than had ever been made public. It seemed like a great story, so I ended up developing it into a book.

Coast To Coast AM this coming Thurs Nov 14. I’ll be on the first half of the show from 10pm-midnight (PST) discussing my new book, “Lizard Man: The True Story of the Bishopville Monster.” Call in with some good questions!
It’s an honor to welcome Mr. Lyle Blackburn as speaker #1 for the event. To learn even more about Lyle, tune in to this Sunday’s season premiere episode of Finding Bigfoot featuring Lyle and the Boggy Creek monster.
I’m proud to announce that my new book, Lizard Man: The True Story of the Bishopville Monster, is now available from Anomalist Books.
As with my previous book, The Beast of Boggy Creek, I offer an in-depth look at one of the most bizarre and hair-raising cases of an unknown creature. During my research trip to Bishopville – and to Scape Ore Swamp itself – I discovered that there’s much more to the story than I first realized… and much more than meets the eye regarding the media’s portrayal of this modern-day ‘creature from the black lagoon.’ All in all, it made for a fascinating research trip and resulted in a book that I think everyone will truly enjoy.
