Lizard Man book is here!

Lizard Man Book Cover

I’m proud to announce that my new book, Lizard Man: The True Story of the Bishopville Monster, is now available from Anomalist Books.

As with my previous book, The Beast of Boggy Creek, I offer an in-depth look at one of the most bizarre and hair-raising cases of an unknown creature. During my research trip to Bishopville – and to Scape Ore Swamp itself – I discovered that there’s much more to the story than I first realized… and much more than meets the eye regarding the media’s portrayal of this modern-day ‘creature from the black lagoon.’ All in all, it made for a fascinating research trip and resulted in a book that I think everyone will truly enjoy.

Lizard Man Book Ad

It’s October 1, so I thought it would be an appropriate time to reveal the cover art for my upcoming book to be released on Halloween. This time I take on the case of the legendary “Lizard Man” from Bishopville, South Carolina to recount the complete, fascinating story and to shine new light on one of the most bizarre and hair-raising encounters with an unknown creature. During my research trip to Bishopville, I discovered that there’s much more to the story than I first realized… and much more than meets the eye regarding the media’s portrayal of this modern-day ‘creature from the black lagoon.’ All in all, it made for a fascinating research trip and resulted in a book that I think everyone will truly enjoy.

His name is John Tice, but people call him Trapper. He’s a backwoods West Virginian who prefers hill people or mountain people over that other term people sometimes use. With his closest friends, Tice travels around the Appalachian region looking for evidence of mysterious, mythical creatures that have lived in the public’s consciousness for generations. His group, called the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings (AIMS), is the subject of Mountain Monsters, the new reality series on Destination America.

Two kids enjoying some off-road action hit the brakes last weekend when they stumbled onto a trail of three-toed footprints in the mud. They aren’t certain of what left them, but they aren’t ruling out a “monster”.

Chupacabras Attacks BMW? Or Was it the Lizard Man?

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on March 31st, 2013

The wheel well around the car’s front left tire was twisted and had several punctures that could only have been made by teeth.

The word “chupacabra” — Latin America’s legendary goat sucker — was mentioned by more than one. Lupine creatures found in Romania were invoked. Others posited a coyote-wolf hybrid.
