A giant squid, whose oversized eyes and gargantuan blob of a body make it look more mythical than real beast, washed ashore Tuesday (Oct. 1) at La Arena beach in the Spanish community of Cantabria.

The beast measures some 30 feet (9 meters) in length and weighs a whopping 400 pounds (180 kilograms); and according to news reports, it is a specimen of Architeuthis dux, the largest invertebrate (animals without backbones) on Earth.

Two Sea Monsters For The Price Of One!

Posted by: Karl Shuker on September 1st, 2013

Sea monsters can be very deceiving, even when dead. It is well known that the decomposing carcase of a beached basking shark often transforms very dramatically, and deceptively, to yield what on first sight looks remarkably like a long-necked, four-flippered, slender-tailed, hairy plesiosaur-like creature. Abominable Science! Authors Interviewed

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on August 10th, 2013

Q: How widespread is the belief in cryptids such as Bigfoot or the Yeti?

Daniel Loxton: Much more widespread than the fringe reputation of the topic suggests. And that adds up to an awful lot of people.

Though there are many reported sightings by many people the Sea Serpent remains elusive, its existence still unconfirmed; however, the Sea Serpents unconfirmed status adds to the weirdness and mystery of today’s outrageous holiday.
