This print from October of 1988 was found and cast by Dr. John Bindernagel and his wife, June in Strathcona Provincial Park near their home in British Columbia. It was left on a hiking trail, and indeed a hiker’s boot print can be seen in the cast itself.

This week our guest is Dr. John Bindernagel, a professional wildlife biologist who has been studying the subject of Sasquatch in North America since 1963. He lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. His interest in this animal began in 1963 when, as a third year student in wildlife management at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, he was laughed at for raising the report of an animal described as an “ape-man” for possible discussion.

CTV British Columbia showed the videos to John Bindernagel, a wildlife biologist who has spent decades researching Bigfoot, writing two books and talking to those who say they’ve seen the creature.
He says it’s difficult to determine in the videos what’s going on, because there isn’t much scale or perspective in the short clips.

Bindernagel says bigfoot sightings are more common than people realize but are often immediately discounted. He also predicts there are several people who have seen the creature but are afraid to talk about their encounters because they may have had bad experiences when recounting those sightings to friends or spouses.

Illustrating evidence which contradicts the widely held perception of the sasquatch as merely a cultural phenomenon—a myth, hallucination, imaginary being, misidentified bear, or hoax—he explains why criteria such as testability, consistency, predictive power, and simplicity actually support an alternative hypothesis: the sasquatch as an extant mammal.
