  1. Iceman responds:

Having seen it at the Dallas premiere, I can assure all this one is as good as bought when it’s released to DVD!

  2. gridbug responds:

Someone on a different site said that this movie was a comedy with no actual bigfoot in it and that Goldthwait was punking the BF community. Please tell me that’s not true?

  3. Craig Woolheater responds:

As I told Bobcat Goldthwait at the Dallas screening, “Best fucking Bigfoot movie ever, and not a Bigfoot seen at all.”

The movie is in parts hilarious, and in parts terrifying. What it isn’t: boring, cliche, or uninteresting.

    Two non-opposable thumbs waaay up!

  4. Iceman responds:

SPOILER ALERT: It’s not that there isn’t a bigfoot in it; it’s simply that it’s not shown (it’s too bad that another site had to ruin that, but even though there is no stuntman in a costume or computer-generated imagery, rest assured that this IS a bigfoot film). The exposition to the encounter starts off humorously, but the anticipation becomes palpably frightening for the two principals, as events unfold, and I guarantee that if you’re not aware of the twist at the end, you’re in for a shocking payoff! It was also worth watching to see the real people, of the Willow Creek community, that Bobcat Goldthwait cast as his extras (his anecdotes about them were priceless). I only wish that the Q&A session we attended with the director could be seen (my friend recorded it, but the quality was too poor). Trust me (and Craig) and don’t pass this one up!

  5. Hambone responds:

Oh great. Another Bigfoot slasher meets Blair Witch movie.

  6. Iceman responds:

You are mistaken on both counts. It’s not a slasher flick and read Lyle Blackburn’s review at the link Craig posted above (or the one by Nick Redfern) to understand why it is better than the average or substandard found-footage fare. Bobcat Goldthwait has created a masterfully suspenseful film in this genre and to be a naysaying critic before one has even viewed it, reeks of ignorance or snobbery (or both). I went in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised (and I’ve sat through the worst bigfoot dreck ever committed to celluloid [or any digital medium]). To quote an old hippie anthem: “All we are saying, is give [it] a chance.”

  7. Goodfoot responds:

If you’re suggesting – and I think you are – that you can’t judge a book by it’s cover – with all respect to Bo Diddley – YOU CAN.

    Hambone:

    I think so too.

  8. Iceman responds:

Agreed, but both of those judgments were incorrect: it’s not a slasher movie and the only resemblance it bears to the other film (which I despise) is the narrative is in the same genre (found-footage). By the way, I would love to know the name of “ANOTHER Bigfoot slasher meets Blair Witch movie,” as I had not realized that there was an abundance of them in general release. If so, I’ll certainly rent it (or them) immediately, for comparison!
