Bloop: The Lovecraft Link

Posted by: Nick Redfern on July 10th, 2012

I missed this article from Micah Hanks when it was originally published – at the blog of Intrepid Mag – but it’s well worth reading, so I’m bringing it to your attention now, as it deals with one of the greatest writers of horror- and monster-themed fiction (H.P. Lovecraft) and the infamous “Bloop” saga that has attracted the interest of more than a few cryptozoologists over the years.

Micah begins:

“Howard Phillips Lovecraft, famous horror and ‘weird fiction’ author of the last century, was something of an enigma. As a writer, his tastes were wide and varied, ranging from the areas of art and culture, to history and travel. Though best known for his short fiction of the macabre variety, he was perhaps most prolific as an epistolarian, having authored enough letters and correspondences to place him among the ranks of French Enlightenment philosopher Voltaire. And yet, there were other aspects of H.P. Lovecraft’s life that are lesser known, and which might otherwise attract the curious for the esoteric they might yield.”

As for those “other aspects” and much more, have a good read of Micah’s article…
