Discovery Channel Replies to Cryptomundian on Alaskan Cadborosaurus Footage

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on May 27th, 2011

I emailed Discovery asking if the Cadborosaur footage was real and if it was to be shown, and got a response that hints toward them having the footage and it being used soon.Cryptomundian

  1. Macleod responds:

I got the same email this morning.

  2. Ajwho444 responds:

I got the exact same response…word for word…seems like more of an auto reply or automated general response.

Not confident it means they will show it or even have it..

  3. TimmyRyan65 responds:

Boy, that’s as vague as you can get. Looks like it was one of many of thier form letters. At least we know it is on thier radar now!

  4. Mibs responds:

Bulk response. I got a the same message a few years ago when I inquired about Discovery re-airing the Giant Squid in Japan program

  5. gridbug responds:

That certainly reads like a totally automated generalized bot response. Did anyone try emailing them about a totally unrelated subject to see if they got the same reply? (I can’t do it from the computer I’m using at the moment…)

  6. mosritemecha responds:

I am sure they get far too many emails to send personalized responses.

  7. eyecitga responds:

I received the same response today. I know you guys feel as if we’re being pushed aside, but I’m taking it as if they are aware of the interest and are (hopefully) preparing the “special series” as we speak. Keep the air of positivity alive here. I do think it might be wise to send another note to them, on an entirely different subject, just to see what that response it. In the meantime, KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!

  8. Shelley responds:

This is your basic canned response from any of these companies. Your mail was not read by any human being.

You can try writing a letter by snailmail, since so few people do this these days. Unless they bin all incoming mail, your chances of having it read by a human being are better. Telephone calls?

Actually this is word for word the same response that you get from BBCAmerica if you e-mail them, with the names switched. I wrote them three years ago about something, and they have never changed the situation or responded in any way.

Surely among all of these brilliant Cryptomundians there must be someone with some connections with a scientific agency or educational institution that would be interested in at least seeing this film for once. This is beginning to assume overtones of a conspiracy to bury this film forever. Would the knowledge that there are surviving animals from the age of the dinosaurs be SO revolutionary? Would it be so hard to say “we were wrong” about the sightings of these animals. That in itself is a scary idea, that anyone would bury information just so they would not look bad in the public eye.

If only that guy had not sold the footage!!! It was not nearly enough money and it would have been so much better to have something to bargain with–or just release the video to everyone!

  9. Mïk responds:

I’m with ya, eyecitga! I got the same thing and felt the same way. I’ll give them a month to get this ‘series’ (Are the Hillstrands getting a side project?), at least, in ads. June 27th…I’ll send ’em another note worded a little stronger.

  10. ntolman responds:

You don’t know that’s it’s a Cadborosaur. At best you can say it’s an unidentified animal. You’re making claims that are not supported by evidence.

  11. Wulffy responds:

If everything happened as it did, Discovery now has full rights to the video. They are into this venture for the money, not the science. They have to look at all the ways they can make back the money they spent for the video, plus as much extra as they can squeeze out of it. That process will take time. Pressure from a few hundred of us isn’t going to influence their timeline and plans for this video. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it disappear for a long time, to reappear later with a different back story.

To assume they are not showing the video in an attempted cover-up is silly. They supposedly spent $75,000 dollars for it. That may be a drop in the bucket for a big corporation, but not something that can be just written off with no return. The video will come out, but only when it can make them the most money.

  12. shadowprime responds:

Question for anyone who cares to offer their thoughts…

If this footage was ‘as good’ as advertised… as clear, as dramatic, as obviously showing, directly, one or more large unknown sea creatures… can you picture Discovery Channel being this coy about it? I can imagine them being worried about being ‘scooped’, but that doesn’t seem a valid concern in this case. I would think Discovery Channel would LOVE the hype, and might even craft a program specifically around this footage.

Does Discovery’s behavior in this case make you feel more, or less confident, that this footage is going to turn out to be something of significance?

  13. red_pill_junkie responds:

    Got the same response.

    Which means… its a conspiracy!!! 😉

  14. eyecitga responds:

I’m wondering if Discovery hasn’t had a team sent to the location, specifically to research and film the objects, if they can be located again. As said above, the possibility for Discovery (the name alone says it all, IMHO) to boost itself even more worldwide, would jump at the chance prove these things are indeed real, alive, AND well. No way this corporation would shell out $75,000 and just shelve the footage in a “Raiders of the Lost Ark”-esque manner. Wouldn’t make a lot of sense. Even if we’re a small rag-tag group looking to cause a stir by writing incessantly to the powers that be, Discovery owes it to the public to be a trendsetter and bring this evidence to light. Each day, I’m actually feeling more and more positive we’re going to see this footage, hopefully in the next 2-3 months. Think POSITIVE!!!

  15. mandors responds:

The only thing I can think of is the colossal squid episode on “Monster Quest.” They found something fascinating, got real footage, but they really didn’t hype that show anymore than they did the shaky camera mothman episodes.

So maybe they do have something.

  16. Weezy responds:

I got the same reply today, pretty much seems automated. Doesn’t mean they AREN’T reading the e-mails or taking them into consideration, so I’m hopeful, or optimistic I guess.

  17. Ajwho444 responds:

I am not going to be that excited about this if they show this footage as part of some wacky spin off series with the moronic Hillstrand brothers…

I mean how serious can Discovery be taking this evidence if they run it in the middle of “Hillstranded” versus giving it it’s own special?

If it’s worthy of all this hype, it needs its own special and not to boost ratings for the Hillstrand bros.

  18. YowieLover responds:

A canned response to show how much they care about the viewers eh? Also a lesson in patience for us all.

Just have to wait until they release it though I’m not holding my breath for an earth shattering finish to this.

It is better to keep expectations low in these situations.
