Discovery has released the trailer for Russian Yeti: The Killer Lives.

Included in the trailer is an interesting photo that was on a camera found at the site.

Is it the photo of a yeti?

Russian Yeti: The Killer Lives
Sun Jun 1 9/8c on Discovery

On February 2, 1959, nine college students hiked up the icy slopes of the Ural Mountains in the heart of Russia but never made it out alive. Investigators have never been able to give a definitive answer behind who – or what – caused the bizarre crime scene. Fifty-five years later, American explorer Mike Libecki re-investigates the mystery – known as The Dyatlov Pass incident – but what he uncovers is truly horrifying.

Determined to find answers, Mike hires Russian translator Maria Klenokova to join him. Together, they set out to one of the most remote and inhospitable places on Earth. However, nothing prepared them for what they were about to discover. Following the trail of evidence, Mike finds proof that the hikers were not alone – a photograph, taken by one of the hikers a day before they died suggests that they encountered a Yeti. But just how far will they go to find the answers?

From Loren Coleman’s Cryptozoo News:

Among the many photographs left behind by the Dyatlov Pass party is a haunting image: a dark figure at the edge of the forest. Could it have been a Yeti? The Discovery documentary will explore several mysterious questions, including that one.

Urals

While the above picture may only be that of a young skier at the edge of a Russian forest, in the context of the Russian Yeti, it may take on a life of its own linking it to the long history of Almas, Almasty, Kaptars, Yetis, and Snowmen in Eurasia.

I heard an author of a book on this incident say that this photo may be of some kind of Russian military. He said this because the bodies were crushed as if they’d been run over but with no external injuries of being hit with anything like a vehicle, and they had severe radiation burns. He thinks there was some kind of testing going on of weapons, and these folks were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or accidentally became test subjects for the weapon. He was on either coast or unknown country awhile back. He also said the suit looked like a type of military thermal snow suit and may have some kind of badge or ID near the left shoulder. The whole thing is weirdsville….but if he is right about the radiation….radioactive Yeti? Tough sell. 🙂

I actually read the book called Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar, who actually went to Russia to investigate this. He got lots of pictures that had been kept away from the public as well as interviews with the one member of the group who turned back. In all of those pictures, there was no mention of what was shown above, so unless this is something new, I’m guessing it’s nonsense.

There was one last exposure on a camera of one of the climbers that was taken shortly before they died, but it was like a light orb and a smear of light. According to the author the rest of the photos were of the climbers at various stages of their adventure…unless he held something back, or if someone else had something previously undisclosed.
