Even More From OurBigfoot.com

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on July 28th, 2006

In my previous postings regarding the OurBigfoot.com website here at Cryptomundo, I detailed some of the problems that I found with the website.

I emailed the contact that I found on the Angels & Ghosts website, which was apparently an email address for Mr. DuPlatt or Duplain, whichever the case may be. This is what I sent:

Requesting information regarding your website, OurBigfoot.com. Can you give any additional info other than what is listed on the website?

I received the following reply:

Thanks for writing. More information is planned and will be released on the website this year.

– Publisher, Angels & Ghosts, LLC

In my post regarding the videos and photos on the website, we discussed the problems with the dates of a "video", as well as the photos that looked like someone in a gorilla costume peering around a tree.

In my post concerning the footprint casts that were claimed to have been made by the owners of the site, I showed that 3 of the casts in fact had been cast by others.

At the time, I felt that one of the photos, which depicted multiple casts, was a photo of the Bossburg, WA "Cripple foot" cast.

OurBigfoot Casts

In the above photo taken from the OurBigfoot site, labeled Atwood Lake Region, 6-19-97, the second from the left cast is undeniably either an inverted image of the "Cripple foot" cast, or a photo taken of the backside of the cast.

The photo below is of the "Cripple foot" cast.

The two following photos are taken from the OurBigfoot site and have no description for them there. However, we are led to believe that they are two of the "more than 48 plaster footprints of the bigfoot we have been researching." In fact, the photos are of the same track, with one of the photos having been inverted, converted to gray scale and color saturated to make it appear to be of a different track.

However, these are manipulations of a photo of a track that was found in Georgia. Below is the original photo of the track, before any OurBigfoot manipulation. The photo and accompanying text are courtesy of Sam Rich of Georgia Bigfoot.

Georgia Track

This track was discovered in West Georgia, in an area that has shown a consistant history of sasquatch reports. The track measured 14" long and was one of over 30 discovered. The average step was measured at approximately 4.5′. At one point whatever made these prints appeared to step across a nearby stream, a distance of almost 6′. Several casts were taken of these tracks and are currently in the possession of a fellow researcher.

The following photo is a comparison of all three photos, amking it very obvious as to the original source of this track.

I can only wonder what information is planned and will be released on OurBigfoot later in the year?

I can hardly wait. I wish it was then now…

Is someone paying money to make us “believers” look bad? Biscardi, these guys, etc. the list goes on. These guys are doing a lot of work just to have a website about big foot, without actually going into the field to look for big foot. I bet they were the type of kids that at least double spaced, 15 size font, with a dictionary or thesaurus for big words just to keep from actually doing a well written report or essay in school. The one thing that boggles my mind is this–Is the general population that looks at this site really that dumb? It’s one thing to do like Loren here, and go there to expose the sham that this site really is, but how many people go there and actually believe these guys? By the way, is there any way for those ourbigfoot.com “borrowed” pics from to get them in trouble? Even just a slap on the wrist.

  2. twblack responds:

Seem like everyone is after the 15 mins. of fame even if they have to lie for it. What a shame.

  3. smylex responds:

    They’re a bunch of clowns.

  4. planettom responds:

It appears to me that ourbigfoot.com is at fault for breach of copyright. They have not showed permission to use such photos or given credit for the mis-identified photos. As Craig has pointed out, they have improperly borrowed the photographs. I think this should definitely be brought to the webdesigner/host’s attention and a slap on the wrist is due.

  5. Mausinn responds:

All I can say is SHAME ON THEM !

  6. crypto_randz responds:

Come on already thats enough talking about our bigfoot.com . The website is too loud with the screams and yells from a bigfoot.I think the yell is real thats how they communicate.

  7. Dark-Obsessor responds:

Those yells can be easily imitated. Or they could be real animals, not the imaginary ones from dear old ourbigfoot.com

Those guys need a life… Really. Trying to fool so many people… I hope they go on a expedition and get mauled by grizzlies..

  8. One Eyed Cat responds:

Would be better if their copywrite infringments got them in Jail. Might slow down the tidal wave of hoaxes P & T started.

  9. Mnynames responds:

I bet you anything that the calls are “borrowed” too…

  11. Georgia_Bigfoot responds:

Nightwing already beat me to it. Anyone wanting to know the “who” behind Ourbigfoot just has to do a WHOIS database lookup, to find that the domain is registered to a one Mr. Louis Duplain. I’ve already filed a formal complaint with Yahoo!, who have assured me that prompt action will be taken. For anyone else who feels that Mr. Duplain is abusing their right to copyright you can contact Yahoo!’s Copyright Agent at copyright@yahoo-inc.com.

  12. planettom responds:

I looked at the ourbigfoot site tonight and under the Bigfoot Photos link, it appears that the footprint photos have been removed! Yeah! Hopefully they learned their lesson about copyright! I work in research myself and I am a contributor to a text book, I know all too well about copyright issues, and it’s not to be taken lightly!

  13. Craig Woolheater responds:

Yep, that’s right, all of the footprint and cast photos have been taken down and the page now says only:

This collection of bigfoot footprints were made by pouring plaster into fresh bigfoot tracks. After the plaster hardens, the plaster bigfoot cast footprint is removed. To date, we have taken more than 48 plaster footprints of the bigfoot we have been researching…coming soon.

  14. Jeremy_Wells responds:

Wow, you can even still see the leaf, from the middle of the Georgia tracks, in the “Ourbigfoot” tracks. You’d have thought they’d at least try and photoshop out such obvious landmarks.

The reason for this particular “hoax” (especially insidious as it appropriates “real” evidence) is pretty obviously ad revenue from visits to the site.

I won’t even click over there anymore for that very reason.

I’m glad to hear they have been forced to take the co-opted footprint photos down, but it seems like the legitimate researchers should have some claim to any revenue the site has generated using their evidence in this way.

This is as wrong as any other form of plagiarism.
