WV Bigfoot Vocalizations?

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on November 8th, 2013

Recorded by Norma Trent on her property in Bruno, WV, these vocalizations are some of the best to date, with a Sasquatch openly expressing itself through its’ voice during daylight hours.

Note the similarity with the Ohio Howl:

This was the first recording ever obtained of a long moaning howl vocalization. It was recorded in Columbiana County, in the hills above Wellsville. These moaning siren-like howls can be heard on occassion late at night in the Fall, echoing off hills on both sides the Ohio River. West Virginia is on the other side of the river.

Moaning howls are thought to be made by large, male sasquatches.

  1. Bipedal_Bill responds:

Very similar to sounds I heard near Jasper, Co in the late 90’s from an elevation above tree line. Hard to imagine that sound belonging to any North America animal I can think of. I would be curious as to what an avid hunter thinks this sounds like.

  2. dconstrukt responds:

you can faintly hear long deep “oooooooooooooooooooh” sounds in the background…

    and a dog barking.

interesting… but who can say for sure wtf that is?

you can’t say its a bigfoot because you have no proof they are real.

We THINK they are real but until we have hard evidence, its a mystery.

  3. BryanandShannon Impey via Facebook responds:

I like them. BFRO Facebook is stating it warrants serious follow up investigation. They seem to be moving on that.

  4. Julie Dodge via Facebook responds:

    That is one scary sound!

  5. PhotoExpert responds:

Definitely more believable than anything Sasquatch Ontario has provided in the way of audio. All in all, a very good audio for analysis because the listener can not dismiss it immediately. It’s intriguing. I therefore, find that interesting.

The question is: What could be making those sounds?

  6. cryptokellie responds:

I think this is an honest video about some eerie audio. The long howl is interesting but very far off and somewhat indistinct. Actually there are several N.A. animals capable of emitting a howling vocalization similar to this. They would include wolves – maybe not in W.V. however -, bears, coywolves, wild or domestic dogs and…humans. My first guess would be just that, a human howling or a recording of one being broadcast for some reason. It does sound quite similar to the reported recorded Bigfoot vocalizations so who knows. Could it be a group call-blasting recorded possible Bigfoot vocalizations?. I assume if you believe in Bigfoot you have your answer and if you have doubts…well.

  7. Lesley Cox responds:

As Photoexpert says, those are very intriguing sounds. There’s a guttural quality to it that makes me doubt it’s a coyote or animal of a similar size. It sounds big. Whatever it is, it’s very eerie.

  8. Ploughboy responds:

Obviously swamp gas, expelled by a weather balloon, while the tape recorder is hallucinating. And the person recording it was drunk. I mean, you guys take stuff like this seriously?

  9. William responds:

Maybe it was simply a fellow West Virginian trying out his new Squatchit Bigfoot Call Novelty Noisemaker he received in the mail that day?

  10. Raiderpithicusblaci responds:

At once both fascinating and quite disturbing. Indeed, for those of us who have heard these animals first hand, it is most disconcerting. Being literally just feet from the impenetrable blackness of the forest, these malevolent, dismal, petrifyingly intimidating roars will stay with me forever; I wanted nothing more than to run but i could not. This terrifying din reverberated through my face, vibrated through my rib cage, yet i was paralyzed with fear. I hated that animal for years, yet had to know more, to see it, to find out all i could; indeed i could not think of any thing else. Yes, i must say, some of us do “take stuff like this seriously”.

  11. Goodfoot responds:

Lesley Cox : IT SOUNDS BIG! Exactly; impossible to escape the impression, isn’t it? I heard sounds in NM that had some similarity; imagine (not hard) you call these a howl; what I heard were more along the lines of screams. By something BIG that wasn’t coyotes, bears or cougars, lynx or bobcat.

I like the way the sound carries in the damp, rainy air in this, with a lot of clarity and resonance, like a train whistle on a wet, rainy day.

This is GOOD stuff! Nice comment, ploughboy!

  12. sasquatch responds:

THAT is most likely a Bigfoot in my opinion.

Very large lungs on whatever it is.
Eerie…unhappy, maybe lost or lost a companion or young.

Sounds very much like the Ohio howls, but even closer at points in the tape.
Sasquatch Ontario- take note; THIS is much more confounding than your silly sounding “Mikey” stuff.

A VERY large person MAY be able to pull this off, but it’s doubtful. Your stuff? Easily within’ human limits.

  13. Goodfoot responds:

Where can I buy one that works like that? Sure, an impish question, maybe. I’m not a hoaxer, nor do I play one on TV. I wouldn’t use it, but I’d sure like to see one that could do THAT!

  14. Goodfoot responds:

“Dismal”? What do you mean by that?

And is this the introductory passage of your new Bigfoot docu-novel? I’d buy it, based on that!

  15. Goodfoot responds:

Big lungs. Also enormous, resonant chest cavity; way too big for a human. My two centums.

  16. springheeledjack responds:

That sounds similar to other vocalizations–it’s got that long howl quality. You can’t rule out call blasting completely, but after listening a few times, if it is call blasting it’s good quality sound. Then again, with the weather, I tend to doubt that Bigfoot hunters would be out in that weather…having said that, there will always be someone experimenting and proving me wrong. 🙂

It’s good enough to keep an open mind.

  17. Goodfoot responds:

    But even if it’s call-blasting – very unlikely – it’s call-blasting actual Bigfoot howls!

The woman says near the end, “she’s stopped”, or something to that effect. I was quite stricken by that, because, although I’m not sure why, I assumed the howls to be that of a female!

  18. eyeofstrm responds:

Could be call blasting, but don’t most people do that at night? Also where did they get the sound from that they were blasting. Maybe the Ohio Bigfoot recordings, but they would have had to clean it up pretty good and amplify it quite a bit. Very interesting. If I heard this close by to me in or out of the woods it would definitely stop me in my tracks.

  19. dconstrukt responds:

    “it’s a bigfoot”

how on earth can you say it was a bigfoot?

You’re doing so with ZERO facts, so you’re making an ASSumption.

    1. no proof they even exist (even though I somewhat believe, we still have no solid PROOF)

    2. no proof anyone’s seen of them actually making these noises

You need to first establish they are real.

THEN, you need to collect real proof they are actually making these sounds.

Thats the ONLY way you can sit here and say for sure its a bigfoot.

Until then, its SOMETHING making the sounds, we aren’t sure what.

  20. Guodzilla responds:

I played the video with the full expectation of hearing yet another recording of a recording of a recording of a . . . you get the idea.
Anyway, what really unnerved me was the revelation that yes, the sounds were very similar to the West Virginia recording, but as the video played out, there were some variances in pitch and in timbre which did not occur anywhere on the earlier recording almost like the same originator was making a different sequence. Also, towards the end, there was a sort of “rasping, metallic growl” quality which was totally new, at least to me.

Just my fervid imagination, or something else?

  21. Goodfoot responds:

Acoustic analysis could prove that one beyond any reasonable doubt. It was done with the SIERRA SOUNDS recordings, and eliminated as a possibility.

The same could be done here. And, as I think you are pointing out, a recording of a Bigfoot “call blasted” is STILL a recording of a Bigfoot… blasted!

I feel like Teddy Roosevelt, saying, “BLASTED!” so many times.

  22. Goodfoot responds:

dconstrukt: GET OVER YOURSELF! It was a call for OPINIONS, not facts. Nobody here is claiming a “fact” here; it’s you that brought that up.

Watch me: THIS IS A BIGFOOT!

    (Was that a “fact”?)

It’s a Bigfoot! It REALLY IS!! I SWEAR!

(See what I “proved” there, dconstrukt?) 😉

  23. Allen Garmon via Facebook responds:

I can’t think of any known animal in West Virginia that could make sounds like that.

  24. Goodfoot responds:

I think a local Bigfoot has found some Mountain topper’s still. That’s a signal to all the others: “it’s over HERE!”

  25. Guodzilla responds:

I disagree, Goodfoot; the reason being that if a ‘Squatch had found a moonshiner’s still, the vocalizations would have gone “oooooOOOOOOOOO(hic)OOOOOOOOOOO(Burp)OOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo” or some variation like that.

  26. Goodfoot responds:

Goodfoot scientific observation borne of copious personal experience: Moonshine eructations are oddly absent as a result of Corn Likker imbibement, unless the imbiber has gotten hold of the “beer”, i.e., the pre-distilled product!!!
