On May 19, 2008, a press release entitled “Official Statement – Demise of the American Bigfoot Society” was issued. Here it is:

It is with sadness in my heart that I announce the closing of the doors of the American Bigfoot Society.

Today, I received a communication from ABS Chairman Sean Forker [above] that the decision was made to cease operations of the organization effective immediately.

It is times like these that makes me often think why such an organization, with such dedicated individuals, fails.

The answer is simple, dedication to this field is often in conflict with our family lives, career paths and often as well with our own goals and mission purposes.

Diversification is a wonderful thing, but at times as well can be a hindrance upon the propagation of an organization. Focus and diversification together in of itself is an oxymoron.

All the individuals in the American Bigfoot Society have themselves firmly implanted in other organizations and all of them should do well in their particular ventures.

To them my hand is always outward in friendship and I wish them the greatest in their opportunities abroad.

Sincerely, Steve Kulls [in two photos below], Vice President, Evidence Analysis – The American Bigfoot Society

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

  1. Kimble responds:

I wonder if this will also put an end to the several podcasts they are involved with. Kulls has the SquatchDetective and Forker, I believe is very much involved with the several SquatchMedia shows.

  2. SForker responds:

    Hello folks, Sean Forker here.

The ABS has closed it’s doors due to a long period of inactivity. The ABS Journal likewise has also been shutdown.

All members have separated on good terms.

Having two young children; and my daughter diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, it is time to focus those energies spent on the ABS and “The Sasquatch Experience” and put them towards my family.

SQuatchMEDIA was folded into Anomalis Entertainment, run by Eric Altman and myself, and will continue to produce Sasquatch Experience and Beyond the Edge Radio.

    Thank you!

  3. graybear responds:

It’s sad to see dedicated individuals grow apart, but this is one of the lessons which life hands us all; nothing is forever.
    Good luck to you all.

  4. Artist responds:

Seems that, with the closing of this “door” to the unknown, several others have opened…

GOOD news, then… same as it ever was.

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
