Take an enjoyable historical break, sit back, and watch this just posted crypto-cartoon from 47 years ago:

The Abominable Snow Rabbit is an eight minute 1961 Warner Brothers Looney Tunes theatrical cartoon starring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. The cartoon was directed by Chuck Jones and co-directed by Maurice Noble, with a story by Tedd Pierce. (For whatever reason, the video version here is six minutes long.)

While the cartoon’s title, according to such sources as Wikipedia, allegedly “is taken from the phrase and horror film, The Abominable Snowman,” I must observe that knowledge of the Abominable Snowman was culturally widespread back then. Expeditions, cartoons, books, folklore, jokes, and news articles linked to the name “Abominable Snowman” were easy to find worldwide in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

This cartoon seems to be making a big comeback. Recently, FunkoVision produced a great collectible 7 1/2-inch tall figure of the Abominable Snowman from the cartoon, in this item:

I have the remarkable figurine in the museum. I love how it, indeed, is a good representation of the cartoon Yeti and “packaged in a retro-styled TV box with a clear plastic screen, twisting knobs, and a scenic background.”

“I will hug him and squeeze him and love him and pet him, and I will call him George.” LOL Classic, Loren!!!!!! I love the old Warner Brothers Cartoons, and this was one of the best. And of course, there was the immortal line from Bugs Bunny, “I KNEW I should’ve taken that left toin at Albequoique.” Thanks, Loren, for the laughs.
