A week ago, on Friday, November 12, 2010, New Castle County Police told the media that a resident in the Mill Creek section in New Castle, Delaware, reported seeing a cougar that Friday afternoon.
Police received a call around 1:30 p.m. saying a woman reported seeing what she described as, “a big cat with a long tail,” in the unit block of Bernard Boulevard in the Quail Ridge section.
Police searched the area, but found nothing and no visible evidence of a cougar in the area.
There was also a cougar sighting reported early Wednesday morning, November 10, 2010, at the 100 block of Benham Court, near the Clearview Ridge Townhouses community.
Cougars, pumas, Eastern panthers, or mountain lions (all the same animal) have supposedly not been found in Delaware since the 1850s.
