Happy St. Patrick’s Day ~ DT vs MQ

Tired of watching Leprechaun, Leprechaun 2, Leprechaun 3, and Leprechaun 4 for St. Patrick’s Day? You have some choices this year on Wednesday.

Okay, most of the programming this week is scheduled so, if you had the time, you could watch SyFy’s “Destination Truth” and History’s “MonsterQuest” throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, in alternate hours. But I had to pretend there was an intentional St. Patrick’s Day smackdown in all of this, because it feels that way.

Don’t forget, for every hour of DT, half of the programming is usually ghost stories and the other half is cryptid-related. MQ sticks to one cryptozoological topic, usually, under one umbrella.

DT begins its new season this Wednesday with “Ghosts of Masada/The Leprechuan,” and if it is like the “Iceland Elves,” Ryder will be scared, looking very “Blair Witch-like,” and Josh will crack some good Irish Little People jokes. (Yes, Josh, I thought the “elf off” was quite humorous.)

Meanwhile, MQ returns to one of its most successfully done topics, Sasquatch, and screens its second-to-last episode this Wednesday. (See my longer posting, with videos and images about the “Sierra Sasquatch” episode elsewhere on Cryptomundo.)

On Monday, March 15, DT showed four straight hours of reruns. They are gearing up for their new series. Josh is funny, and I wish them luck. For MQ, I feel joy that they were able to do so much, and yet sad to see them go.

Allegedly, History may pre-broadcast some parts of “America’s Wolfman” on YouTube this week.

Coming soon, MonsterQuest is generously donating some of the series’ props to the International Cryptozoology Museum, for public display. Can the museum get anything from “Destination Truth”? Stay tuned. More details later.

Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
