New British Columbia Bigfoot Video

Posted by: Loren Coleman on October 8th, 2011

This was taken in the Kootenays, British Columbia, Canada, on Thursday, June 26, 2008, 5:55 AM, Pacific Standard Time; Duration 0:14:27. The person that posted this on YouTube “forgot about this footage and had later put all [his] stuff in storage.”

It was just rediscovered and posted the day before yesterday, this week.

What do you think?

I am positive, very positive about one species that can be identified in this video: a red-winged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus). The call of that species can be heard at the beginning of this video.

Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. It’s the story that makes me doubt this one. How could anyone “forget” that they’d seen and filmed a Bigfoot?

  2. springheeledjack responds:

My two cents: Whatever it is, IS big enough and bulky enough to fit the description of a Bigfoot. It seems to be hurrying along and may be hairy. However, there’s enough ground cover between the camera and the figure that it could be a person in a coat.

The other thing that bothers me is that there’s only 14 seconds of footage. That’s suspicious to me–if you’re really out in the wilds and you actually think enough of something like that to film it, are you really just going to take a few seconds of footage and call it good, job well done? Personally, if and when I see something like that, I’ll have the camera on even after I can’t see it anymore, be trying to reposition myself to get more footage and following it (albeit at a “safe” distance:), for more footage. The camera pans up and away even before the figure is out of sight.

It’s these quick ‘peek’ videos that scream hoax to me–they give you enough blobsquatch to make it seem real, and that’s because the longer the hoaxers run the camera, the easier it becomes to spot imperfections and signs that it’s really a hoax.

    I guess it’s relegated to blobsquatch again…sigh.

  3. Redrock responds:

Long time reader, first time Commenter. This has me thinking it is a fake for two main reasons.

    1) Who forgets that they filmed a Bigfoot? I mean I can understand forgetting that footage of a deer or something along those lines, but a large upright ape?!? That had to be the highlight of the trip, no? And

    B) this looks very much like the movement of Patty, to a point that It looks almost like the changed her hair color and spliced the footage together. I’m not a computer editing guy, but there is something about the lack of a lower half of the figure that puts a skeptical taste in my mouth.

  4. Ragnar responds:

He forgot? Really? Color me skeptical.

  5. Artist responds:

    SUITSQUATCH

  6. Hapa responds:

Mr. Coleman, there is another species in the film which I think I can identify, one other than the Redwinged Blackbird

    Homo sapiens youtubensis

  7. peteyweestro responds:

To me this one screams fake, the main reason as others have stated is no way do you ever forget about it if it was true, & also during the whole walk you can’t see any of the brush move at all as the supposedly huge thing is walking through it, yeah right

  8. texasbeliever responds:

Long time fan, first time poster.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that a white car that passes from right to left, at the top of the screen, around the 5 second mark?

  9. RedLandsBigfoot responds:

    Blur-squatch

  10. mandors responds:

My first take on this was the same as Redrock. It looks like someone video shopped the Patty footage into a shot of a meadow. If you full screen the footage and pause it at the 1 sec. mark, there is a box around the figure that looks like evidence of shopping. Also, the figure never seems to “materialize” at any point it’s transparent.

  11. Dr Kaco responds:

Video looks cool but we’re not looking for cool are we! ;p
Nice ‘Legend of Boggy Creek’ backdrop though.

  12. shmargin responds:

As much as I’d like to see a good video surface of Bigfoot, the “Ooops, oh yeah, forgot I filmed Bigfoot” story sounds like crap to me.

Not to mention this is the second bit of “evidence” I have seen recently, and both have been after the stores in my area put up their Halloween supplies. Which includes, a full body gorilla/bigfoot suit, complete with mask, gloves, and cheesy hair, that you can buy at my local Target for $79.99…

  13. Rael responds:

Looks like someone in a hooded jacket with their head down to me.

  14. loopstheloop responds:

Pretty amusing the way many people who might swear blind about the authenticity of the P.-G. footage see a man-in-a-suit in this clip.

Some observant commentators have already pointed out the splice- but the angle of the walk, the speed, the locomotion, the off transparency all make it rather obvious that that’s ‘Patty’ strolling through a new back-drop…

…yet THIS one is clearly a suit-squatch, while Patty was the real deal??? Hmmm. Makes you wonder… (at least, it *should*)

  15. shmargin responds:

    @loopstheloop

Except for all the other factors around the Patterson film that make it a much more interesting video than this one. But hey, if you’re determined to hate, then hate on man.

  16. bamaboy responds:

If you read the description on youtube he says what he saw. It was a guy in a ghillie suit apparently.

  17. DWA responds:

Nothing can be told from this video except:

    a. It appears bipedal.
    b. It appears apelike.

That’s it. Could be something unclassified, could be a guy in a suit. It’s not clear enough to tell.

  18. Opalman responds:

If you go back and timeline parts of the “Patty” footage and super it on top of this footage you can see pretty clearly that this clip is the “Patty” footage, although the featured YouTube video is somehow rescaled. I don’t own photoshop and do not have the necessary video equip to actually try to do a video super, but when looking at the two and mentally superimposing the one on top of the other that’s exactly what you get, but with lightened pelage.
Someone went to a whole lot of trouble to do this. The million dollar question is: WHY???? That’s very weird!
