KANSANS AGAIN SEEING STRANGE REPTILE

by Associated Press

LURAY, Kans., June 20. – A strange reptile, said to be from 20 to 35 feet in length, is again causing excitement here as it did last year when various persons said they saw it at different places. This week the snake appeared near the home of Chris Gebhart, at the north edge of Luray, and when seen was in the act of striking a chicken. Gebhart estimates its length as fully 20 feet, its body a blush-tan[,] and said its eyes “glow like a cat’s at night.” Afraid to attack the reptile unarmed Gebhart went for help but when persons summoned arrived the snake had crawled away into the bushes along the creek. Last year three persons at different times brought in accounts of seeing a 30-foot reptile in the immediate vicinity of Luray.
