The Proof is Out There

Our world gets weird this October!

What bumps in the night comes to light this October in Image’s newest ongoing series, Proof, courtesy of Alex Grecian and Riley Rossmo.

“Our lead, FBI Agent Ginger Brown, is an ‘every woman’ forced into a world usually seen in [a tabloid] and ‘X-Files,'” says Grecian. “The Loch Ness Monster, Mothman and her new partner, Bigfoot, prove to be much more than folklore. Proof kicks off with Agent Brown reluctantly accepting how warped her life has become. However, she quickly finds out that’s merely the beginning. Things get much stranger real fast.”

As Grecian mentioned, Proof’s co-protagonist is the king of urban legend himself, Bigfoot, in a role unlike any he’s taken before. The missing link is now a veteran agent renowned for uncovering the unknown. Although, as we find out with Agent Brown, he’s only the first in a long line of creatures who are far different from what the public believes.

Rossmo explains, “We’re aiming to overhaul the usual expectations of a sci-fi series. Our Bigfoot completely contradicts his usual role. Although, that’s just the beginning as our first issue ends with El Chubacabra[s] in a form that differs from any before.”

Proof (AUG071987), a 32-page comic with a cover price of $2.99, will be available for order in the August issue of Previews and will go on sale in October 24th, 2007.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

Woah, I gotta see this when it comes out. I swear I’m going to drag my parents to wherever they are selling it!

I especially want to see what Mothman looks like! (As the name says, I’m a Mothman Fan)

  2. crypto-hunter465 responds:

Sweet! This is awesome! This is definitely something that will be worth checking out! Thanks for informing us!

  3. twblack responds:

Now this is VERY cool. I have to get one as soon as they go on sale!

  4. Alex Grecian responds:

“Proof” will be in comic book stores this coming Wednesday, October 24. The first issue features Bigfoot and El Chupacabra. The second issue, which will be out the fourth Wednesday in November, also features the Dover Demon and the Cottingley Fairies.

If you get a chance to check the series out, the artist and I would love to hear what you think. We’re trying to treat cryptids seriously within a fictional context.

    Thanks!

    -Alex
