Wallace Fake Slips Into DNA Media Firestorm

Posted by: Loren Coleman on November 25th, 2012

Those who are observant will note that a creator of an illustration trying to explain the Facebook press releases has stumbled by adding an unfortunate mistake to this firestorm.

The middle image below is the graphic outline of one of the Ray Wallace wooden fake Bigfoot track tools he and his associates employed to leave print impressions in prime Bigfoot country.

The best laid plans for editorial art can sometimes go badly astray.

Of course, the other component that is incorrect in terms of this quote (upon which the graphic is based) is that the “Giganto” theory is so central and important to Bigfoot researchers. Yes, many folks, following Grover Krantz and Jeff Meldrum, have been overly influenced by having all their eggs in that one basket.

While many people are Gigantopithecus followers, there are schools of thought that North American Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Oh-Mah might be evolved Paranthropus, Homo heidelbergensis, Neandertal, Amerindian shamans, and more. Or that while populations of Bigfoot might exist, we have no idea at all what they might be.

Besides, there are a lot of unusual suspects out there, and Bigfoot is not the only hairy hominoid group in existence, we’d bet.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

I’ve never had more than a couple eggs in the Giganto basket. My bet: the sasquatch lineage – at least most of it – isn’t part of the fossil record yet.

My other bet: This is going to crash and burn. The makings are already there.

If you are still doing your own research…well, don’t stop now.

  2. bigfoots responds:

I started looking at human origins from the beginning and have always held firm to my belief that bigfoot is pure evolution on this planet. we are the mutation he is not…
his path was a straight one and explains why he is perfectly adapted for the wild..
our path was not the same..
bigfoot is what we would call a relict hominid “Homonocturnus” that evolved and continues to evolve to live in the wild, operating mostly at night and lives wherever we do not

We (Homosapien) have evolved or mutated (with or without external help..take your pick) to adapt our environment to us.

what im saying and what its beginning to look like is.
bigfoot is the living result of a prior but now extinct early version of another relict hominid that crossed with early human.

if you dig into human origins you will find it every bit as murky as bigfoot origins..
so I’m sure this is going to create a stir.. but im glad.. maybe people will finally begin to think for themselves and realize that they have been living in a bubble..

  3. MR JOSHUA responds:

Lets not jump the gun and act like this latest DNA “discovery” solves the bigfoot mystery. I would really urge on the side of caution and not be so quick to dismiss the Giganto theory.

  4. DWA responds:

OK. Let’s ask ourselves the only relevant question.

Do you feel the sasquatch confirmed right now?

Me neither, not even close, and maybe farther away depending on how this flap resolves.

To me, sasquatch confirmation was going to be: Whoa. That is what one looks like. Now I know P-G was a real bigfoot. (Count on this: confirmation of sasquatch will be verification of P-G.) And now I’m going to see more photos; more video; camera traps are inevitably going to get some; and I’ll start getting a good idea, soon, where it’s most likely to see one for myself.

Anyone feel that way now? Me neither.

If you have seen one that you know was one – P-G, for all I think it probably is a real sasquatch, has been psychologically contaminated beyond repair – this may seem, to you, as final vindication. For many, it certainly does.

But without a body, it really doesn’t look like we are any closer to finding out than we were a month, or ten years, ago.

Mainstream dollars and time are how the rest of us are going to find out about sasquatch, and see one or more of them, before we die. Unless we get what seems unusually lucky.

If this doesn’t put the mainstream on board, then to me, it’s irrelevant. P-G is far better. I’m betting that’s a sasquatch. I can’t even bet where this DNA came from.

  5. MR JOSHUA responds:

DWA you are one of the few voices of reason. Just because someone says they have DNA of a sasquatch does not make it proof….especially when posted on a FaceBook page Where were these samples collected ? How were they handled ? Who are Ketchum’s fellow scientists ? Has an unbiast review board certified these findings ? Why is this discovery not on “any” major news stations or mentioned in any scientific journals ? Just a few of the questions that need to be asked.

  6. bigfoots responds:

    @ DWA
Personally having my own bf encounters it is already “confirmed” to me.
so i dont need anyone else to “confirm” it for me. I already “Know”

    so im way past that…

ofcourse my origins theory is just that.. a theory…

  7. DWA responds:

    bigfoots:

    Just as I thought.

But given what I am increasingly seeing as likely to happen here, don’t count too much on ever seeing another one, unless you get really really lucky one more time. And me? Other than P-G, I’m thinking I may just as well forget it given my luck so far.

Unless the TBRC scores. Go TBRC.

  8. RandyS responds:

To get us back on topic (or least back to the title of the thread): There’s a media firestorm?

  9. bigfoots responds:

    @ dwa

nothing will happen… because people only believe what they want to believe.
even in the face of overwhelming evidence they will still choose to hold onto beliefs that they must know can NOT be true. I call this “living in a bubble”
    its an epidemic 😉

So I doubt “DNA Evidence” will change anything because it will be ignored by mainstream “science” and skeptics alike anyway.

its not like bigfoot needs us for anything anyway.. they’re doing just fine (imho). so frankly i dont care what direction this goes so long as the govt doesn’t use it as an excuse to lockdown millions of acres of land.

I’m just making my own mental notes because as i mentioned this has begun to confirm my theories.

  10. Ploughboy responds:

Of course, there is the death-by-a-thousand-cuts view of this…incremental accumulation of evidence that just keep on piling up. That doesn’t require a corpus. From that perspective, no evidence is bad evidence, or even “the” piece of evidence. It just grows and grows until the cumulative weight of it swamps any rational mind’s ability to hold out against the patent reality. Popular opinion and consensus work that way. Looking back, it might be hard to sometimes put your finger on when/where the tipping point was. On this subject though, I think we might look back on 2012 as the year. If so, for all her procedural shortcomings, Dr. Ketchum may have brought something to the party after all.

I’m counting on Dr. Sykes to put this over the top.

  11. DWA responds:

    Ploughboy:

And if you had told me that “Finding Bigfoot” (maybe the biggest single driver of sighting reports I have seen) would aid and abet, I don’t know what I would have said, but maybe something like:

Even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then
    – Chinese proverb
