Posted by: Loren Coleman on August 28th, 2011

If anyone hears any stories of alligators being sighted, found, or rumored from the sewers or elsewhere in any of the cities up and down the East Coast in the path of Irene, be sure to let us know here at Cryptomundo!!

Use the comments section below or write me directly via clicking on this page, “Contact Loren Coleman.”

In my book, Mysterious America, you can read more about all kinds of sewer gators. For more specifically on the 1930s’ New York City gators, see here.

Updates:

A three-foot alligator was caught during this previous week in the Woonsquatucket River in Providence, Rhode Island.

(2) New Jersey

Post-Irene capture of a two-footer seen above occurred in Gloucester Township, New Jersey (see details below in comments and/or here)

Only thing I’ve heard of so far is overly large sewer/subway rats. Sorry.

  2. Jason P. responds:

Here’s one [in a Pennsylvania newspaper about a New Jersey incident]:

“A two-foot alligator was found – and captured – in Gloucester Township as residents cleaned up in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene this afternoon.”

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
