Who Are You?

Posted by: Loren Coleman on September 30th, 2012

Blogging can be a lonely job. Who, out there, after all, is reading this stuff?

So, Cryptomundians, at the request of some oldtimers, we are asking you to share “Who Are You?”

Who are you? Thank you for being here!

As Cryptomundo, the world’s #1 cryptozoology site, moves into Year EIGHT, I want to pause for a moment to hear directly from you.

Today, Cryptomundo is at nearly 7500 blog postings and with almost 77,850 comments having been published here.

You might think that only a few people are registered and can make comments to Cryptomundo, because you have actually become familiar with some “regulars.”

But were you aware that you might be among the 23,298 individuals who are registered and thus can make comments here?

So, I have some general questions to ask you.

In a line or two, share with other Cryptomundians briefly whom you are, specifically,

(1) age;

(2) gender;

(2) where do you live, via general location; and

(3) what do you do – student? occupation? pre-retirement job?

Please do not share your name, exact addresses, email specifics, or any kind of ID info. Such messages won’t be approved. Also, nothing off-topic either, or negative. This is a positive sharing exercise.

Hey, and speak up if you’ve been quiet in the past. Don’t allow only the regulars, whom I do want to speak up too, of course, be the only ones we hear from in the next few days.

Thank you for coming here daily to read my words, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your words in the comment section below.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

  1. Goodfoot responds:

I’m a 64-year old male living in Richmond, Virginia, a retired psychic and chain mail specialist, and I’m looking for attractive Bigfoot women between the ages of 22 and 54, who like bonfires and S. Hawking! I know you’re out there, ladies! Bast, can you help me out?

  2. AreWeThereYeti responds:

Yours truly is a (not quite!) 44 year-old college-educated male residing in the Chicagoland area – Go BEARS!

I have always been intrigued by Bigfoot and its ilk, the Loch Ness Monster and any other cryptids which have, at least, some biological basis in fact; ghosts, other paranormal beings and sundry extra-dimensional entities need not apply! As you may have gathered from some of my various comments, I am a believer in the scientific method and always willing to follow cryptozoological evidence – not conjecture or speculation – wherever it might lead. My motto, I guess, would paraphrase Carl Sagan thusly: One should always keep an open mind mind but not so open that one’s brains fall out!

As far as my history with Cryptomundo is concerned, I first came across the site, strictly by chance, about 6 years ago but was immediately hooked by the integrity of the Bloggers and especially impressed by the overall quality, knowledge and depth of understanding displayed by the majority of the site’s Commenters. I then lurked for several years before finally deciding to step forward and add my two-cents worth (about 3 years ago) and have never looked back!

I have occasionally checked-out other crypto-sites but have found none that compare, and it is with great sincerity that I say I have thoroughly enjoyed Loren’s, Craig’s – and, yes, even Nick Redfern’s ongoing posts, here…

To Craig, thank you for hosting such a wonderful site; to Loren, Nick, and ALL of the other Bloggers, thank you for providing thoroughly entertaining and educational posts on such a consistent basis. Finally, to all the readers and, especially, Commenters, thank you for helping make Cryptomundo the number-one site, for all things Cryptozoological, that it is today – Long may it thrive!

As of tomorrow I’ll become a 39-year-old Mexican male.

I pay the bills through my career as an Interior Designer.

But the real truth about myself is that I’m an Agnostic Gnostic, a bipedal conundrum, and a metaphysical oxymoron —with emphasis in the ‘moron’ part ;).

Oh, I also like to blog, and leave comments here and there…

  11. Alamo responds:

    41 year old male

Born in the Philippines of a Filipino father and American mother, they met when my dad was a cadet at Annapolis and mom was in nursing school. Lived in the Phils for 18 years or so on and off, went to HS in Atlanta and studied Political Science at the University of the Philippines, lived in Micronesia (Guam, Palau and Saipan) for 10 years, been living in the Phoenix metro area for the last 7.

Lived in an honest to goodness haunted house as a kid, avid SCUBA diver and Jacques Cousteau fan, former amateur boxer and MMA fighter, cut my crypto teeth gnawing on episodes of ‘In Search Of’ and the works of Lyall Watson, mostly self-educated, avid reader, Rim Squatcher.

Currently working in sales for a Fortune 500 technology company (anybody else notice the large number of IT/ technical types we have here?).

I try to keep my mind open while staying away from the trap of quickly blaming all unexplained events on cryptids/ fortean phenomenon… I am a subscriber to the principle of Occam’s Razor.

  12. D1metrodon responds:

D1metrodon, 48, male, factory worker/journalist who has always been intrigued by cryptids going back to “In Search Of” with Leonard Nimoy and “The Mysterious Monsters” with Peter Graves. Love the discussions, news and (generally) open minded nature of Cryptomundo. I hail from the NW part of Loren’s home state, Illinois.

  13. KPG1986 responds:

KPG1986. I’m a 26-year-old man who works for Kroger in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I specialize in researching monsters and the supernatural. I even have a blog, the Demon Hunter’s Compendium (hope that’s not too much information). I’ve been interested in cryptozoology ever since middle school.
