Good friend Corinna Downes – the wife of Center for Fortean Zoology director, Jonathan Downes – has a great, new, atmospheric story at her Female of the Species blog that you won’t want to miss. Indeed, it’s a Halloween treat.
Corinna is a very atmospheric writer and should do much more of this kind of thing, which – titled Dr. Jack Lantern’s out of hours call – begins as follows…
“A flash of lightning outlined the shape of a car as it made its way down the lane, its occupant carefully steering it through the torrential downpour. The driver sat forward in his seat as much as he could so that he could see out of the windscreen. The single wiper swept valiantly back and forth as it desperately tried to clear away the streams of water that poured down the slippery pane of glass.”
And here’s the link to the rest of Corinna’s bone-chiller…
PS: The photo above was taken by me in 2010, when Jon and Corinna came to visit and we spent a few hours hanging out at Dallas’ infamous Grassy Knoll.
