Tales from the Pine Barrens of New Jersey of the Jersey Devil sometimes describe a creature like Bigfoot. In yesterday’s Observer-Tribune, there was an article about the Great Swamp Devil. The Great Swamp is only 26 miles west of Times Square. The descriptions of the Great Swamp Devil run the gamut, "…from a tall hairy man to a winged beast. From what I’ve read, it has glowing liquid red eyes and it’s been reported as stalking visitors to Great Swamp for a 100 years.”
Could the Great Swamp Devil be one and the same as the Jersey Devil?
There have been Bigfoot sightings from the Great Swamp as well.
"Years later, a plan to build an airport by the Port Authority in the late 1950’s was squashed by local activists and was named a national wildlife refuge. Bigfoot did not squash the refuge, though. Ghering said there was a sighting in the 1970’s."
