Sasquatch Sighting Threatens Colorado Ski Resort Development?

I was recently made aware of this article and video. The article was posted online on April 1, 2007.

That is probably a good indication of the veracity of the story.

Sasquatch Sighting at Wolf Creek

A video clip shot by a group of tourists atop Wolf Creek Pass on April 1, supposedly showing a Sasquatch roaming in the forest near the site of a proposed ski resort development, has brought up questions about the presence of an endangered species at the development’s location. Representatives for the Wolf Creek Development Company claim that the footage is a hoax, but attorneys for Wild Colorado, an environmental group that has been fighting the development for the past two years, say the video presents enough evidence to force the developers to fund a new Environmental Impact Statement.

Wolf Creek Pass Bigfoot

The footage was shot near the Wolf Creek Ski Area parking lot by amateur videographer Lem Burger, of Madison, Wisconsin, who was on a spring break holiday with his companions Mark and Elsa Smith, also of Madison, and Jack Sprat of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The clip clearly shows an upright creature walking through the snowy landscape, and at one point turning to threaten Smith, who was approaching the creature for a better look.

A spokesman for the Wolf Creek Development Company, Farmhead Bunmunch, told the Post in an exclusive interview Sunday that the supposedly controversial footage was a joke played by Wild Colorado, or possibly by some of their supporters. “All I see is some idiot jumping around in a monkey suit, acting like he’s a Saskachewan [sic.] There’s no controversy here… It’s just those Colorado Wildness people joking with you.”

But an attorney for Wild Colorado, Oliver Wendell Hunyak, disagrees. “The discovery of Sasquatch in the area around the Wolf Creek Ski Area presents real problems for any development that might take place in that area. We plan on going back to the Forest Service and ask that a new, amended Environmental Impact Statement be done.” Hunyak suggested that the humanoid Sasquatch obviously belongs on the federal Endangered Species list. “Those persons who thought they had a fight on their hands over the Spotted Owl and the Snail Darter — they ain’t seen nothing yet.”

Wolf Creek Pass Bigfoot

Alleged Sasquatch turned toward tourist Mark Smith and cameraman Lem Burger and made threatening motions before running off into the forest.

A biologist with the Colorado Wildlife Service, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Post that his 25 years of Big Foot research, and his review of the footage and also the tracks left by the creature, lead him to believe that this was an authentic Big Foot sighting. “This is the closest I have come to a personal sighting,” the biologist said in a Post interview on Sunday. “We are on the trail of the true Big Foot.”Claudia Rains

Of course, on youtube, it shows the video was uploaded on March 31, 2007. What might that tell the readers of Cryptomundo? The subjects in the video exclaim that it is their 2006 spring vacation.
