During the Sasquatch Summit, Jeff Meldrum and I made the points during our afternoon talks that John Green resembled famed personages.
Jeff projected a slide showing the actor Michael Rennie (25 August 1909 – 10 June 1971) compared with a youthful John Green. Down through the years, several of us have talked about the amazing resemblance between the two.
Rennie’s appearance in the 1951 film The Day The Earth Stood Still is especially close.
The Rennie facial features are almost a mirror image of Green’s. There is, however, another milder historical overlap out there.
In my talk, I extended the slight comparative hints between John Green and Abraham Lincoln (12 February 1809 – 15 April 1865). John Green was actually born on Lincoln’s birthday, and John made the point in the breakfast he had with Michael Esordi, Brad Pennock, and me that America even use to celebrate Green’s birthday before the USA decided to combine Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays into “President’s Day.”
Henry May has also played the “separated at birth” game, between Irish-born Bigfoot and Snowman expedition member Peter Byrne and Irish actor Edward Mulhare (8 April 1923 – 24 May 1997), with mixed results.
Are there others?
Mulhare was the host of the television series, “Secrets of the Unknown,” today a cult classic. It had an episode on Bigfoot. Were Mulhare and Byrne in the same program?
About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct).
Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
