“An Indiana Monstrosity” was the headline that jumped out of the pages of the Chelan Falls Leader of November 5, 1891, and which described the discovery of a new-born puppy that “possessed the head of a human being”!
The article continues that: “Its body was shaped like a boa constrictor, and being of unusual length, it wound about in all conceivable forms…”
There’s much more, too – as you’ll see at this link – which makes me think that if not an outright hoax, this was simply a case of terrible deformity that got overly sensationalized by the media of the day.
