My Condolences to Craig Woolheater
Posted by: Loren Coleman on November 15th, 2009
Craig Woolheater, Sharonlee, and Mike Escordi joined me in Maine and at the International Cryptozoology Museum yesterday. It was a joyous visit, with much laughter and thoughtful planning for the future.
Shortly after we all said our goodbyes following breakfast this morning, Craig learned through a call from Texas that his mother, 68, passed away very unexpectedly this morning.
The Cryptomundo community is in shock. I send out my condolences, thoughts, prayers, and sincere sympathy/empathy to Craig and the members of his family.
About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct).
Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
Oh God.
It’s bad enough when you’re expecting it, as we were when my mom died a year younger in age than Craig’s. She chainsmoked to the end; my sister said “at least we know how she’s going to die.”
It’s awful when you don’t expect it. I don’t know what to say.
Met Craig’s dad at the TX Bigfoot Conference. Total gentleman. I just feel so bad about this. I’m so sorry, Craig.
After having met Dona it was easy to see what made Craig the generous friend he is. I was very sorry to hear of her passing as she was always such a sweet, wonderful lady who made everyone feel welcome in her presence.
Our condolences to Craig and his family. I will keep them in my prayers.
Heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones. You are in my morning prayers.
Good morning Cryptos…
My deepest condolences to Craig and his family in this most difficult time.

I am so sorry, Craig. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, as well as your father.
My thoughts are with you Craig. I am Hugh(InSearchOf on blogtalk)Phillips and know firsthand just how tough it is saying goodbye to parents. I know it is of no help to you at the moment but I was thankful to have my parents until I was 38 years(mother)and 41 years(father)..many are not that lucky. Take care bro.
Very sad news.
But realise this, Craig; She will be with you forever.
My condolences Craig, know that I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers.
I was dumbstruck when I heard about this. What a horrible, horrible thing to happen at any time, let alone so suddenly.
My heart goes out to Craig and his family. I hope that some form of peace and solace can be found in this tough time.
Best wishes,
Brent
What a terrible, terrible news.
My condolences to Craig and his family.
