Wolfman At Bay

Recall how earlier I’d written that this could be a big year for Werewolves, capped off by Benicio Del Toro starring in The Wolfman, due out November 6, 2009? Well, forget that.
Brian Warmoth, writing at Twitter-Wood, MTV Movie Blog, passes this along from Richard Kelly, Writer/Director (Donnie Darko, Southland Tales):
“Wolfman moved to February, opening up a slot – and we won’t be competing with Saturday Halloween (and Michael Jackson doc).”
Looks like all bets are off for this being a great Werewolf year. Back to the giant snakes for ’09, I guess.
Maleva: “Whoever is bitten by a werewolf and lives becomes a werewolf himself.”
Larry Talbot: “Ah, don’t hand me that. You’re just wasting your time.”
Maleva: “The wolf bit you, didn’t he?”
Larry Talbot: “Yeah. Yeah he did!”
Oh well, there’s always good Werewolf reading available. Wink, wink.

Hi Loren & Everyone Else!
I totally disagree that this will be a slow year for Werewolves.
We are quickly approaching the 30th Anniversary of the greatest werewolf movie ever made. Of course I am talking about An American Werewolf In London. And to help celebrate this occassion, I am very honored to be directing the very first stage production of this classic tale for Freeport Community Players in Freeport, Maine!
The show is based on the BBC Radio play version of the movie. It is produced with special arrangement and permission from Writer/Director John Landis and BBC Production Writer/Director Dirk Maggs!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…
The Book Of Werewolves is the BEST historic tome ever written on the topic.
A werewolf character has a leading role in a new series on BBC, “Being Human.” (The other two leading characters are a vampire, and a ghost.) It’s already become one of my favorites. Fun stuff.
