Goat Man Mystery Solved, Allegedly

Posted by: Loren Coleman on July 24th, 2012

Utah’s infamous “goat man” has been identified. The 57-year-old South Carolina man turned himself in Monday.

His story exploded in the media when officials from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources notified the public of a man dressed as a goat, hanging out among wild goat herds on Ben Lomond Peak on Ogden. Their concern was that he could accidentally get shot by hunters.

Monday, on the advice of a friend who lives in Utah, the “goat man” came clean. He contacted DWR and identified himself as a hunter from South Carolina.

The man told officials he was testing out a new kind of hunting disguise and was told Utah was a good place to find goat herds.

“Goat man’s” real name was not released.

Okay. But who is it? What if this is a mentally ill person wanting media attention, because he was jealous of the real goat man getting it all, up to this point?

Hmmm. This article says he’s from Southern California. Yet another example why there should be a healthy dose of skepticism whenever the media or government officials make statements.

    His name is Billy Caprine…..

Mandors: That mistake is simple enough to have been a typo. This isn’t a case of a “real” goatman being covered up, just the identity of a guy in a suit… whose judgment I quite frankly must question. Wearing the disguise of your prey when others are hunting it…there’s a reason no one goes around in the woods in a Bambi costume during hunting season.

    It reminds me of this.
