From the TBRC
The Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy is pleased to extend a special invitation to Cryptomundians to attend the 2013 Texas Bigfoot Conference on Saturday, March 16, at the Fort Worth Convention Center. This is the first time the conference has been held in the DFW metroplex. The inaugural Texas Bigfoot Conference took place in 2001 and was the brainchild of Cryptomundo (and TBRC) founder Craig Woolheater.
The terrific slate of speakers will all be giving new and original lectures.
Bill Munns will deliver his latest findings pertaining to his ongoing film research in a presentation entitled “The Patterson/Gimlin Hominid: Extraordinary Costume, or Extraordinary Reality?”
Kathy Strain will address the question of traditions regarding giant hair-covered bipeds in countries south of the border in “Hombre Salvaje: Bigfoot of the Americas.” Included as part of her talk will be the screening of a rare video of a traditional North American “Bigfoot” dance that bridges stories from the two continents.
Popular “Beast of Boggy Creek” author and researcher Lyle Blackburn is going to discuss recent regional sightings in a presentation that may provide a foretaste of his next book project.
Jeff Meldrum has spoken at several Texas Bigfoot Conferences; his presentations are always outstanding and unique. This year his topic is “Sasquatch: Status Report 2013.” Considering events of the past year, this will undoubtedly be a fascinating, possibly newsworthy, lecture.
Brian Brown, a member of the Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy’s Board of Directors, will provide an update on TBRC field research operations conducted in the Ouachita Mountains of Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Josh Gates, host and co-executive producer of SyFy’s Destination Truth, will wrap up the day’s speaker presentations with what should be an entertaining and informative discussion of his globetrotting adventures and cryptid investigations. His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion featuring speakers and TBRC members.
Prior to the conference, a Friday Night Social will take place at the host hotel, the Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa. This special event will feature fine cuisine and an à la carte selection of beverages. Those taking advantage of this exclusive reception will have extended opportunities to visit with speakers, TBRC members, and other guests.
No conference would be complete without vendors and exhibitors. This year’s vendors include Cryptomundo stalwarts Ken Gerhard and Nick Redfern. Lyle Blackburn and other speakers will also have tables where books and other items can be purchased.
Ticket information for both the conference and the Friday Night Social is available here.
Host hotel reservations can be made through this site.
We hope to see many of you there!
