Locals and Bigfoot enthusiasts alike are expected to flock to “The Legend of Bigfoot: 50 Years in the Making” Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2-3, complete with a parade launching from the Willow Creek-China Flat Museum where there will be an Ice Cream Social and exhibit of Bigfoot artifacts.
This year, Bigfoot Days is expected to be bigger than ever, as 2017 is the 50th anniversary of the iconic Patterson-Gimlin Film that made Willow Creek the “Bigfoot Capital of the World.”
The festival itself is at Veteran’s Park and the VFW, where the day’s events include local vendor booths, a massive Fun Zone, live entertainment, a classic car and bike show hosted by DreamQuest Youth Center, food, BBQ, beer, cider and all new competitions. Favorites such as the “Misery Whip,” “Ax-Throwing,” and “Best Bigfoot Call” will be back this year, in addition to the new “Watermelon Eating” and “Strong Man” contests and a softball tournament. (Sign up for the softball tournament and find more information on WillowCreekCalendar.com or call 707-335-6202.)
Bigfoot Days is hosted by Willow Creek Mini Storage, Coast Central Credit Union and the Willow Creek Chamber of Commerce. To make a donation or get involved, refer to contact information that follows the schedule.
