John Hodgman (”PC Guy”) Backs Cryptozoology Museum

JohnHodgman2

Genius, comedian, scholar, humorist, author, and man of letters, John Hodgman is known by most today as the “PC Guy” in the Apple ads. (Of course, Hodgman is pro-Mac, having had one since 1984, like I have, but that’s neither here nor there or anyplace else, really.)

I think John Hodgman is the world’s most intelligent comedian, and his interest in cryptozoology is well-known to a few, especially hobo friends of mine.

His book, The Areas of My Expertise, will be upheld by future generations as one of the brightest pieces of 21st century literature, as it could well be the funniest, most random and greatest meaningfully meaningless book actually ever written. I encourage you all to buy as many copies as you can, therefore assisting Hodgman to make more money to donate to good causes.

Oh yes, speaking of that, Hodgman has come out openly, dynamically, and firming in support of backing the “Save The Museum” effort you’ve seen mounted here.

John Hodgman, at his blog, after talking about the Bigfoot statue theft highlighted at Cryptomundo recently, wryly writes:

I do not thank Loren Coleman enough for all his inspiration. You may have heard from BOINGBOING that he is being audited by the IRS.

THEY SAY it is because his Cryptozoology Museum in Maine is not properly a “museum.”

OTHERS SAY it is because the government does not want YOU to know the truth.

EITHER WAY, Coleman needs your help. He lays it all out here, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting him.

That is all.

I was humbled and extremely appreciative when I read his words.

Few of us are, even in the shower, as funny as this man is, so I have to share a couple of his video appearances, which transmit a hint of his ability to do what he does so well.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
