Zorgy Awards Announced

zorgy5

I have really enjoyed reading your blog postings. Obviously, law school was not wasted on you. If your postings are any indication, your forthcoming book will be a welcome breath of fresh air, not to mention a delight to read.~ the late Karl Pflock, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, speaking of Paul Kimball’s blog, “The Other Side of Truth”.

The Zorgy Awards for 2007 and thus the 2008 inductees to The Other Side of Truth Halls of Shame and Fame have just been announced on this early Monday, March 24, 2008.

No doubt due to the heavy voting by Cryptomundians, the following Zorgy has been bestowed upon your humble Cryptomundo blogger.

“Cryptozoologist of the Year – 2007 – Loren Coleman”

The Zorgy Awards are given annually by Paul Kimball of Nova Scotia, who writes “The Other Side of Truth” blog.

The following photograph is taken by Paul Kimball of Kris Lee McBride, a Halifax actress and the narrator of Paul’s award-winning documentary, Best Evidence, who is holding the Zorgy.

As you can see, the Zorgy travels far and wide, meeting award winners and visiting strange locations.

Zorgy and Kimball recently journeyed to Area 51, for example.

There was no winner of the “Best Cryptozoologist of the Year – 2006,” because, quite simply, it did not exist as a category way back then.

Here is the Zorgy shown with Paul Kimball’s 2008 EBE Award for “Best Historical Documentary,” which Paul won for Best Evidence.

Paul Kimball (in Red Sox cap) visited Red Rock Canyon, outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2003, with Zorgy, and according to Paul’s documentation, was soon followed by Amy Kerr, an actress and model from Vancouver, Canada.

(Side comment: I guess my Zorgy is based on my research and writings, for although I do proudly wear a Red Sox cap often, I must admit I know no models or actresses, unless there’s someone in my readership who has not revealed herself yet.)

Ms.Kerr

In terms of a “Small World” moment, it should be pointed out that Ms. Kerr (also seen above) was one of the Glacier Girls for Kokanee Beer, which in the past also used a Sasquatch and Rene’ Dahinden in their ads.

The Sasquatch campaign turned Kokanee into Canada’s fifth best-selling beer, and its lead characters into sub-culture icons. I assume the “Glacier Girls” helped too.

My appreciation to Paul Kimball and a huge thank you to all my fans who voted for me. I am honored with this Zorgy 2007 award and admission into the 2008 The Other Side of Truth Hall of Fame.

I am not going to spoil the fun of noting all the winners, so for a full list of the Zorgy 2008 Hall of Fame and Shame members, please click here.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
