The schedule for Minerva Monster Day, which will be held Sept. 23-24, recently was announced.
A short film competition will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Roxy Theater, 120 N. Market St., and the Ohio premiere of “Wildman: My Search for Sasquatch” will be shown afterward.
Sept. 24 events will take place at Minerva High School, 501 Almeda Ave., and the adjacent Minerva Municipal Park. Pre-dinner events and times will include vendor area openings at 11 a.m., a Minerva Monster Day introduction by Seth Breedlove and Brandon Dalo of Small Town Monsters at 11:30 a.m. and a number of screenings and presentations.
Screenings will include “Minerva Monster” at noon; “Mystery at Loch Ness,” with an introduction by filmmaker Aleksandar Petakov, at 1 p.m.; “Sasquatch: Out of the Shadows” at 1:20 p.m., with a director Q&A session afterward; and “I’ve Seen Bigfoot,” with a filmmaker introduction, at 2 p.m. Dave Knop’s speaking presentation “Make Your Own Monster Movie!” will take place at 3 p.m. A dinner break will take place from 4 to 5 p.m.
Post-dinner events will include Loren Coleman’s speaking presentation “Minerva Monster Recalled” at 5 p.m. and Small Town Monsters’ presentation of the “Boggy Creek Monster” sneak peak at 6 p.m. and of “Beast of Whitehall” at 6:30 p.m. The movie “Something in the Woods” will be shown at 7:45 p.m. in the park.
