The Small Town Monsters 2018 Kickstarter Ends this Week

Creators of high-quality para-themed entertainment, Small Town Monsters, will be wrapping up the crowdfunding campaign to fund production of their 2018 output this weekend. The campaign is being run through the Kickstarter platform and includes three titles that “STM” will be releasing this year; The Flatwoods Monster: A Legacy of Fear, On the Trail of… Champ (web series), and The Bray Road Beast.

On the Trail of… Champ: Small Town Monsters Kickstarter Launch

For centuries, tales have been told of a massive, unknown, aquatic creature living in the waters of Lake Champlain. The “beast” is said to be anywhere from ten to thirty feet long with an abnormally long neck, flippers and a dinosaur-like appearance. Sightings of the animal known as Champ reached their peak during the 1970s but history tells of a bizarre “water horse” said to reside in the lake long before the area became inhabited by settlers. Today, Champ is celebrated in local towns and villages along the lake and has even become a mascot for the local minor league baseball team and will soon be the focus of a new documentary series titled On the Trail of… Champ.

The Flatwoods Monster: a Legacy of Fear

In 1952 five children were playing football in a small town called Flatwoods, WV when a strange object appeared above them. Streaking across the sky, they watched it crest a nearby hill, slow and then descend just over the top of the ridge. What followed after their sighting has become one of the most infamous local legends ever recorded. That night, seven area residents encountered a hovering, mechanical monstrosity that was described by area newspapers as “glowing” “Frankenstein-like” and breathing fire.

The Mothman of Point Pleasant Film Premieres at Mothman Festival Event

This weekend The Mothman Festival once again descends upon downtown Point Pleasant. While the town is no stranger to large crowds of paranormal enthusiasts and fun-seekers alike, this year’s event might push the attendance to record heights. Bolstered by guests from televisions “Mountain Monsters” and a number of high profile authors and personalities the festival is looking for attendees to come by the thousands.

Though the annual festival doesn’t kick off officially until Saturday morning, this year there will be a Friday night “Kick start” to the shindig that includes the first public, big screen showing of the hit independent documentary, The Mothman of Point Pleasant.
