Lake Worth Monster Bash – October 3rd, 2009

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on September 2nd, 2009

Come out to the Fort Worth Nature Center October 3rd, 2009 and celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Lake Worth Monster at the Lake Worth Monster Bash.

Forty years ago, Fort Worth was abuzz with reported sightings of the Lake Worth Monster. Although the creature —described as a hairy, scaly 7-foot-tall man-goat-beast — hasn’t been seen regularly since that memorable summer of 1969, Fort Worth residents can attend Monster Bash to celebrate the local legend and the habitat he calls home.

The family event is planned for 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Oct. 3 at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge, 9601 Fossil Ridge Road.

Activities will include hayrides, bison feeding, canoe tours, vendors, a festival area, monster-tracking, guided hikes and storytelling. The Skip Pullig Band will be performing their new album, including the song “The Goat Man” which will be released to Texas radio stations in early September.

Admission is $4 for adults; $3 for seniors; $2 for ages 3-17; free for children under 3 and for Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. Most activities will be free, but some will require a $5 fee.

To learn more, call 817-392-7423 or e-mail [email protected].

The Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy will be involved with the event.

We will have an information table set up.

This event is shaping up to be a lot of fun. In addition to the TBRC’s presence, the Monster Bash will also have author Sallie Ann Clarke’s Lake Worth Monster memorabilia on display and they’ll be showing the Lake Worth Monster segment from “Southern Fried Bigfoot” in the Visitor’s Center. And yes – shameless plug! – I’ll be there selling DVD copies of “Southern Fried Bigfoot.”
