Breaking: Romanian Bigfoot Video
Posted by: Craig Woolheater on February 15th, 2008
Loren posted the Romanian Bigfoot photos here on Cryptomundo several days ago.
This prompted Cryptomundo reader RoCanuck to post in the comments for those photos that their relative had shot some footage of a purported Bigfoot in Romania.
Me and my cousin got stuck in the snow in Lepsa, Vrancea. While I was makin fun of Andrei (who wasn’t able to get the car on the road) we saw something in the woodsmorkov88
Here is the video for the readers of Cryptomundo to peruse.

It’s the same “bigfoot” as the one from the photos a few days ago. Definitely a guy in a costume.
That looked mysterious enough to be real, maybe.
New here, first post, love the site. I don’t know, why would he be filming for one, and how could he zoom in that fast? It’s like he knew the thing was gonna be there, like it was staged. On my camera you don’t just zoom in the second you see something, you have to think about it and then find the button.
Woohoo, a second confirmed sighting of a Rubberus Abdomenus yetius in the wild.
Same monkey suit from the look of it, maybe it’s really warm, that’s why the guy runs around the woods in it.
Why stand still and then walk off head down the minute the camera zooms in on it??
hoaxes are very irritating… what makes these people tick? Is there some sense of humor that the hoax community gets, and people that take this matter seriously don’t? Is there a such thing as the “bigfoot hoax community”?
I give hoaxes that are not filed properly bad ratings unless listed under comedy or possibly entertainment … but under news and politics they get an F
under pets and animals they get an F-
This does not even look like a decent fake. It is laughable.
I am agreeing with Weezy on this, as I had the same thought about how quickly the camera was able to locate the creature in the woods. Anything is possible, but it was just too convenient.
They could have taken it one step further and had the “bigfoot” wave to the camera.
Thanks! I love the ones I don’t even have to watch halfway.
As with most of them, the blurb announced this one as fake before I even opened it. But I had to see how bad it was. No I didn’t.
What, exactly, do people get out of doing this? I’m supposing that the only explanation is that it takes all kinds to make a world. Obviously, true.
Stuff like this just makes me value the quality of the PG footage more and more, and I’m not even completely convinced with that one. Not only do I suspect this is a hoax, I think it isn’t even a particularly well done one. And who takes time to videotape their tire spinning in the snow, honestly? I am not one to dismiss these videos out of hand, but let’s just say that I’m highly skeptical of this one.
I can’t think of one good reason to film one’s self stuck in the snow. Plus, there are very obvious tire tracks leading down to the care, which suggests to me that they can’t be THAT stuck if they got down there and were able to turn around. More likely they packed snow around the tire to make it spin-out so they had a good alibi for filming their friend in the monkey suit.
Is it just me, or does it sound like the cameraman says “Chewbacca” once he zooms out? The least the guy-in-the-rubber-suit, um, I mean, Sasquatch, could have done is help his friends push their car out of the snow. Geez!
I agree there are tracks already going down there, but it does not appear to be anything but a dead end, why would they be trying to move the car forward? I also heard “chewbacca”. Now thats funny!
The guy’s camera work is great right up until he sees the “creature.” Convenient, huh?
No beef jerky?
When monster quest was talking about the Patterson/Gimlim movie, experts on the motion of humans and one of primates got together and tried to get an athlete to mimic the way the thing did in the movie. Humans are unable to walk that way. This thing walked not only upright (completely), but there was no difference in the way it walked.
Totally looks like a dude in a costume. However I think it’s funny that the driver appears to point the “creature” out to his friend (who for some reason is videotaping his pal being stuck rather than trying to unstick him), but the driver continues to tromp on the gas — of course, a believer might write that off as due to shock.
Well I hate to say it but, the guy in that suit is most definitely REAL.
Sorry RoCanuck, but I don’t buy it.
The unusual focusing in the stills made it seem small, like a toy, but I must agree: this is the same, plastic “abs” and all. MysteryMan and Chabuhi are right to question why he was videotaping the stuck tire instead of helping out. Then it so smoothly pans DIRECTLY to the trees where the “creature” is. No fumbling with the zoom. No focus problems. No panning left and right trying to frame it. Even if the costume seemed more realistic or its walk wasn’t obviously human, I still wouldn’t have bought it. I think it is as important (or more) to look at WHO did the filming. Who are they? What do we know about them. In the end, it’s a video on YouTube. We can’t take it for more than that. It was good for a chuckle, sure. But…
All I can think to say is …SHEEEEEESH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chewbacca=Romanian for Sasquatch.
we can add this to Sasquatch traits: he doesn’t help people stuck in the snow
Maybe the bigfoot was planning to come out of the forest and use its superior strength to help them move the car, but changed his mind when he saw the camera.
On another note, I saw some you tube videos showing an alleged sasquatch on mars…cryptozoology has finally entered the space age (extraterrestrial / intergalactic cryptids?)
Oh, I dunno about all these people who are so skeptical of this video… sure, it looks fake.
But does it really look so much more fake than, say, the Patterson/Gimlin film? I’m sure most people here will say yes, but my question is this: How, exactly?
It seems to me that the judgments about what seems real or fake are very, very subjective. If anyone disagrees, what exactly are the objective criterion by which the P/G film is deemed “authentic” and this is deemed a “hoax”?
You guys are awfully quick to dismiss this one. It looks pretty decent to me. Why would he be filming instead of helping? Because it’s his cousin, and wants to make fun of him. Seems pretty normal to me. And comparing this creature to PG is illogical. This is supposed to be in Romania, not the Pacific Northwest. This would not be a sasquatch so much as maybe an almasty, which are described as being more human-like than sasquatch are. I will reserve judgment until I can see a better-than-Youtube quality copy of the video. OK, the bare looking chest and abs are suspect, but who knows?
BadState- I don’t think comparing this to PG is so illogical. One video (PG) shows incredible detail, fluid movement, and a very convincing image of a living, moving creature not immediately identifiable (to me anyway) as a man in a suit. This video here shows nothing that makes the PG footage so compelling. What is illogical about using footage of as high a quality as possible as a sort of benchmark to compare other videos with? Would you not compare, say, an alleged video of a thylacine with a real video of one for comparison? Or a mystery large ape with footage of known large apes? Great apes are somewhat similar in form and function no matter where they are found, so why assume that a Romanian Bigfoot in a similar environment would be wholly different in morphology to something found in the Pacific Northwest? Admittedly the Almasty is described as being very similar to a human in appearance, but I don’t see a very human looking creature when I watch this video.
Of course we do not know if even the PG footage is real for sure and thus I do not think too much weight should be rested on comparisons alone at the risk of gathering bad data. However, I do not believe comparing videos is not an illogical thing to do. To the contrary, I think it is a very good idea to compare these videos with other footage that is available. Minor details of physical appearance aside, good clips such as the PG footage may show how a large, non human biped may move and this information can be used to assess new footage to a degree. Comparisons can be useful, I feel.
If you think this video depicts a very human like creature like you mentioned about the Almasty, then I must disagree with you there as well. Does the creature here look any more like a human to you than Patty? In a way I think the very non human appearance of what we see here somewhat overturns the argument that we are looking at an Almasty and therefore we are back to something perhaps similar to the Pacific Northwest sasquatch. Or a guy in a suit. In my opinion, there’s nothing particularly human- like in appearance about the subject of this video at all, except maybe a human in a suit, and the movements do not seem convincing for something such as a sasquatch when compared to better quality footage. Anyway, I personally think we are probably not looking at an Almasty OR a sasquatch here. What I think we are quite possibly looking at here is a human in a suit.
Besides, I specifically said in my previous post that I am not one to dismiss these videos out of hand, so I don’t feel I am being so “quick to dismiss” this one as you say. I said I was “highly skeptical” and there’s a difference.
Ben- I don’t know what sort of objective criterion could be compiled to tell which footage is more likely a hoax than another without an actual authenticated specimen with which to compare. There is subjectivity involved, good point.
Then again that is assuming that science is a completely objective thing completely free of any subjectivity at any stage, and that that there are strict, objective criterion for everything, which isn’t always the case. If it was, then every single scientist given the same data and tools would come up with the exact same conclusions every single time. That would mean that scientists would never disagree because if what they were doing was completely objective, how could there be anything to argue about? So do we have a world where all scientists always come to the exact same conclusions, always agree, and never debate anything? Simply, No. This does not happen in science, because although scientists are careful with evaluating evidence and with procedures used to come to their conclusions, human subjectivity is not something that can be eliminated entirely in research.
That being said, this Romanian bigfoot footage sure does look like a guy in a suit to me. š
MysteryMan: I agree with you!
Please!
Nothing has yet to come close to the Patterson film.
This thing is clearly fake from the start. Why would you be filimg your car stuck in the snow, instead of trying to get it out? How did he immediately locate the man-in-suit in the woods? Why was he so calm and collected while filming something like that? Actually, none of these questions even need to be answered. This thing just looks awful.
ok, this time it moves, but its still rubbish.
1 It is a well known fact that former dictator Ceacescu had all relict hominids in Romania shot because of their opposition to his regime, and those who escaped his wrath came to Britain to run our railway networks.
2 Another Holmes interested in cryptos?? Hi, Holmes, not from the East End of London, by any chance?
This is just sad.
It shows the classic hoax techniques, shot at extreme distance, is all too brief, no details discernible, the subject quickly disappears behind cover, dubious actions of the cameraperson/s etc etc.
Totally different to the P/G footage.
A very good question by Benjamin, and a great response by mystery_man š
no surprise there red_pill, ben and m_m are two of the people who always make it worth visiting this site, even when all we’ve got for the day is another terrible hoax video..
C’mon, how would a bigfoot get all the way to Romania?
So the guy is filming and amid all the noise and fun just “happens ” to look up and sees ‘THE CREATURE” way off in the woods ,and , in fact, has to zoom in to see it because its too far away… and like someone else mentioned ,the “thing” was standing there UNTIL the camera zoomed in on it. Fake fake fake.
Kinda embassrasing how cheesy some of these bogus videos are.
