Fedoras Ready? Indiana Jones Returns
Posted by: Loren Coleman on November 30th, 2007
The forthcoming film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom and the Crystal Skull is set to open May 22, 2008. Cryptozoologists, dust off your fedoras and keep informed here. (Please be forewarned, if you are at work or in a library, the opening page has loud theme music.)
Set in 1957, the new movie centers around the mysterious crystal skulls (a well-known Fortean mystery), and pits Indiana Jones against agents of the Soviet Union.
Because there is such a “closed door” policy on the plot, the only sure thing seems to be the diversity of the settings: Marshall College, Mexico, South America, and the Soviet Union.
Whether any cryptids will be part of the plot is unknown. The next Lara Croft movie reportedly has a scene involving an attack of Yetis, but it is unclear what natural terrors will be thrown at Indiana Jones.
Nevermind, after almost two decades absence, the prediction is that the new, in great shape “old” Indiana Jones is going to be a marketing “monster” with a big footprint.
About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct).
Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
I’m already in line!
I have three Fedora’s all dusted off and ready to go.
Heck with the fedora, I’m breaking the whips out!
***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT***
It’s been hinted at that aliens (of the Pleiadian Gray variety, think Close Encounters of the Third Kind) may factor into the story, probably as part of the final act. Conjecture at this point, and not specifically crypto in nature, but an interesting possibility. 😀
“Whether any cryptids will be part of the plot is unknown.”
….so WHY is it post on cryptomundo?
“just in case” there’s a cryptid?
Yeah gridbug, there seems to be some mentioning of Area 51 in the plot… *cringing with excitement*
Man, where do I buy a fedora??!!!
‘Cause I already have the whip 😉
I’ve waited and waited and waited, and finally the movie is in post-production, yeah. I’m a big Indy-fan and can’t wait to see the movie (hopefully my Adventurebilt Fedora will arrive before May… :D).
Harrison Ford is in great shape, I definitely want to look like that if I’m 65.
And well, I doubt that we’ll see any kind of cryptid in this movie, but you never know.
“Snakes…why did it have to be snakes?”
because we all love a good hat
hahaha large chunks of my childhood just flashed back playing indiana jones watching the films and generally running around causing chaos
cant wait cryptids/aliens or none of them 😛
This will be opening day viewing for me no matter what its about
OH MY GOD! I can’t wait! I have been checking IMDB for info on this movie for about 6 months now. I already have the box set of the 3 originals and can’t wait to update my DVD collection.
Nothing is certain in the way of plot details. All of the alien and Area 51 talk is just rumors. I follow every piece of information and news I can on Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, and I highly doubt that any cryptids will be featured. Indy is about history, artifacts, and action, not mysterious, unidentified animals. Look at the message boards at TheRaider.net to see what I’m talking about.
