Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

I love that film! These direct ties to the wonderfully naive “silver” days of the cinema are becoming fewer. Inevitable…but a real shame.

McQueen hated admitting he was in it, but I always felt that had I been him (alas, to be that cool) I would have worn it like a badge of honor. The simple charm of these movies is so RARELY matched today and I know I will share classics like this with my daughter when she’s just a wee bit older (she’s 6).

    Godspeed to Kay!

    Truly classic movie.

    Thank you Kay.

    Fare thee well.

    “Dave! CO2! CO2, Dave! Dave! CO2!”

    Love it! 🙂

oddly, i got to know the producer of the THE BLOB and many, many other sf/horror films a few years back when i still lived in Hollywood.

‘Mr. Jack’ Harris is a truly nice gentleman and he was still active in the biz though he was topping 90!

he had, sadly, just learned of the death of the director of THE BLOB the day before we met, and was deeply touched. i can’t help but feel badly for Mr. Jack as i think of him reading this entry. ;(

thanks, Loren, for the update, though i now have to send a condolence to Mr. Jack, too!

rest in peace, Kay Linaker! your contribution(s) will live on in film history!
