Sounds of the “Thing”

Posted by: Loren Coleman on April 15th, 2007

The sea serpent[,] or “Thing,” was heard by others of the residents as well as by some of the cottagers, during his late re-appearance along the East shore [of the Clinton County, New York, peninsula that juts into Lake Champlain]. The sounds are described as peculiar, but whether they were made when the creature was disporting itself on the reef, or when he was “rolling up, tumbling up, any way to get up” on the shore, we are not informed. It is hoped that the editor of the Republican may sometime have the opportunity of examining the “Thing” at close quarters, and then a “coherent” story will be looked for.Plattsburgh [New York] Sentinel. What is this about the sounds of Champ and what will happen there on this April 24th?! Stay tuned.

Thanks to Jerome Clark.
