Get those holiday shopping list started. Here comes another wave of DVD releases in the Northern Hemisphere in the realm of cryptozoology programs. These latest are for September 2008.

One of the Weird Travels episodes was filmed with the Texas Bigfoot researchers and include Craig Woolheater and Monica Rawlins getting screen time. The film crew was with members of Craig’s research group during his field operation, as well as spending time with Craig in Jefferson, Texas, and at Caddo Lake. The shooting also included a day trip to Fouke, Arkansas, to check into the local legend of the Fouke Monster. I was involved giving background historical information.

Image Entertainment is taking two popular series from The Travel Channel, and bringing together 3 favorite episodes from each one into a new DVD release called Paranormal Destinations. The disc, due to hit stores on September 2nd, will contain 6 episodes total: half from Weird Travels and half from Mysterious Journeys. Each is presented in anamorphic widescreen video, with English – Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio. Cost is $19.98 SRP for 252 minutes.

Here are the descriptions of the two Weird Travels programs that have cryptozoological significance, which are bundled in this first release:

“Lake Monsters”: From Scotland’s Loch Ness to Vermont’s Lake Champlain, hundreds of eyewitnesses all over the world have reported sightings of lake-dwelling “monsters.” Through new technology, we attempt to unlock the truth behind these huge sea creatures.

“Bigfoot”: Tales of mythical apelike beasts have existed for centuries. He’s most commonly known as Bigfoot, and we’re hot on his trail. Using state-of-the-art techniques, we’ll reveal the secrets and the science behind this very hairy, very scary creature.

The Weird Travels/Travel Channel film crews went to Texas to film Woolheater and his team for the Bigfoot episode, and came to Maine to interview me in the International Cryptozoology Museum for both of the programs noted above.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
