Cryptotrip: Coming to a Destination (America) Near You Soon
Posted by: Craig Woolheater on August 26th, 2013
An independent documentary exploring the presence of cryptozoology in the United States…
Cryptozoology is the study of hidden or unknown animals, creatures not confirmed or recognized by science. What we know about this science comes from eyewitnesses, people who have had encounters with creatures they can’t explain.
Across the United States, encounters like these are reported in the thousands. What are people seeing? How does it affect them? What does our fascination with cryptozoology say about us?
To explore these questions, director Christopher Maloney (‘The Death of Andy Kaufman’) set out on a good old-fashioned all-American road trip, visiting over twenty states to interview people who have reported creature sightings.
Combining these interviews with his travels on the road, Maloney takes a look at the presence of cryptozoology in the United States with this fascinating documentary.
I suppose it’s time I make the news public. I signed a contract last week with the Discovery Channel, licensing them the broadcast rights to CRYPTOTRIP!!!
Starting this spring (and for the next three years), they’ll be airing it on their channel “Destination America”. For all of you who donated, encouraged, contributed, or were just interested – thank you, thank you, thank you.Christopher Maloney
