I am thankful just to wake up in the morning and realize I am still breathing! LOL

Seriously, I am thankful for what most humans are thankful for, that is, health, family, friends, and employment. I feel thankful that my bills are paid and I can enjoy life with my friends and family. That is all I need!

I had Thanksgiving dinner with my aunt and uncle and their family since my family is 500 miles away. It was fun playing with the kids, all under the age of 8. They always want me to tell them stories and typically I do, some of them fictitious and most of them true. They usually like to hear about my escapades in the Amazon Jungle (true) or my travels to India living in the forest with tigers (fictitious).

But this year was different. The 8 year old asked me to tell him stories about Megalodon! I asked him what he knew and he knew a lot. I asked how he learned about that subject and he stated he learned about it from a television program. The 5 year old asked me to tell them about a BigFoot story! And after that, the 8 year old asked me to tell them a story about the Yeti. The 4 year old wanted to see video and photos on the iPad. These kids were into it and seemed to know quite a bit on the subjects. This was very surprising to me. As it began to get dark, the kids asked me if I could take them on a BigFoot hunt in the back yard woods. Believe me, it is probably too rural for any intelligent BF to visit and the woods are a patch of trees. LOL But I took them nonetheless. Why? Because they had an interest in the subject and they wanted to know more and become actively involved.

I think that is awesome! We did a few tree knocks and a few shouts. What I did not know is that one of the boys’ fathers had snuck out around the front of the house and had an artificial bearskin rug which with he was adorned, bear head and all. So as we did the knocks and hoots, we got a response and the father came out of the patch. A little scary but the kids got a big kick out of it and we all had a laugh. It was a teachable moment that I am sure the kids will never forget. Now they all want to go on a real BigFoot search! They were not scared. They also got an introduction into BF hunting. And they were thirsting for more knowledge about cryptid creatures. That was a teachable moment and not for the kids but for me!

If we encourage and share with children who have an interest in things, you never know where that will take you, what you will learn, and not to mention the memories for a lifetime to come.

I am thankful that some children would rather learn about cryptozoological creatures and go on a BF hunt than sit there and play with a PlayStation 4! Enlightening and encouraging for all parties concerned. Maybe this will be the generation that actually finds BF!

I’m thankful for a lot of things, but…

accidentally coming across my first crypto book back as a kid and getting hooked. Even though I haven’t been able to prove a darn thing, cryptids are mysteries worth my time and thought!

I am also thankful for the internet which has brought all like minded cryptos together to discuss, share encounters and theories, and bring together a group of creative thinkers who look at the world just a bit differently 🙂
