Flores Little People In Police Lineups
Posted by: Loren Coleman on September 11th, 2009
Let’s take a moment to see how the image of the Hobbit is slipping into height charts with the other folks around the block. Sort of funny how these kinds of little charts makes the “normal” into the abnormal.
The modern human reminds me of FlatTop from “Dick Tracy.”
Meanwhile, the Homo erectus takes on the appearance of a Melanesian with an enormous Afro.
Or even perhaps, this harkens back to the 1860s’ style similar to the Afro that was worn by the “Circassian beauties,” sometimes known as “Moss-haired girls,” (shown below) exhibited in sideshows in America, by P.T. Barnum and others. These women were claimed to be from the Circassian people in the Northern Caucasus region, and were marketed to white audiences captivated by the “exotic East.”
So, what might the Homo floresiensis really look like if we have to rely on artists’ mixed fantasies about “different peoples”?
Also, have you noticed how often cryptozoological figures show up in these pseudo-police lineups?
Do you think someone wants to prepare us for the future dragnet of hairy hominoids via law enforcement height charts?

About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct).
Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
Very interesting and very funny.
Reminds me somewhat of The Usual Suspects.
“Greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world He didn’t exist…”
Classic. Great post.
Moss haired girls as they were called were just gaffs. The back story was they were rescued/escaped from harems in the middle east.
