Mill Race Park creature receives new life on documentary feature
Columbus (IN) is approaching a milestone, the 40th anniversary of the first sighting of the Mill Race monster.
On Nov. 1, 1974, two groups of girls made separate reports to Columbus police that they had witnessed a “green, hairy and large” creature walking upright in the downtown park. Out of those two reports grew a legend that has not only persisted but grown, primarily in the cyber world.
It has put Columbus on the map of paranormal activity and spawned a segment of a television series that is planned for the spring of 2015 on Discovery’s Destination America channel, “Monsters and Mysteries in America.” And it just might give Columbus another brand to go with its current one of being “unexpected, unforgettable.”
