Cryptomundo 2.0
Posted by: Craig Woolheater on January 20th, 2007
We are on the verge of releasing Cryptomundo 2.0.
It is going to take place at some point this weekend.
The site will likely be down for several hours during the transition to the new design.
There are many cool, new features coming with the new design.
Please have patience with us during the transition.
Hopefully there won’t be too much wailing and gnashing ot teeth, on either your or our part…
About Craig Woolheater
Co-founder of Cryptomundo in 2005.
I have appeared in or contributed to the following TV programs, documentaries and films:
OLN's Mysterious Encounters: "Caddo Critter", Southern Fried Bigfoot, Travel Channel's Weird Travels: "Bigfoot", History Channel's MonsterQuest: "Swamp Stalker", The Wild Man of the Navidad, Destination America's Monsters and Mysteries in America: Texas Terror - Lake Worth Monster, Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot: Return to Boggy Creek and Beast of the Bayou.
Cool! Will the Take This and Live Forever ad go away? Sorry I hate that ad. LOL
Donations are non-existent. If this site is to survive, of course, we have to start generating revenue. Vitamin ads have to be tolerated to keep Cryptomundo alive. If an angel was around, other than all of us here who have been investing our time and money into this site, such things might not be necessary. But the reality is, things like hosting, graphic design, ISP fees, etc. cost money. Since no one is sending any cash (PayPal to [email protected] if you wish), such things as the above and thankfully, SciFi Investigates and TAPS Paramagazine ads at right, do help us out.
Waitin’ with bated breath…
So it’s true – vitamins ARE good for you!
can’t wait to see it!
I don’t mind the ads … some of them are actually interesting.
I hope that the new version of Cryptomundo has a feature that allows a person to proofread and edit their comments before they post them. That would be really great.
Congratulations on your update!
I can’t wait, this is one of my favorite sites!
I don’t mind the ads, and having not yet seen Sci-Fi Investigates in UK I am keen to know why their investigative team seems to include Eric Clapton. Some excuse for ‘Slowhand meets Bigfoot’ headlines, perhaps.
Oh, come on, he’s a ringer!
Loren,
Would you be allowed to put a PayPal ‘Donation’ button on the Cryptomundo site? That way anyone who comes to the site could just click the button and make an instant donation. I am sure most people don’t think about the financial aspects of the site while enjoying it. So a ‘donation’ button right in front of them would be an incentive and/or reminder. You know, just a few bucks every now and then would help, right? I, myself, would likely take advantage of it. Just a thought.
True, ads are a necessary evil. I agree with kittenz that it would be nice to have a feature to edit our posts. Many a time I have posted something and then wanted to go back and change what I wrote or take it back somehow! Other than that, I am curious to see how this site could be any cooler than it already is.
Can’t wait.
Purrlcat–I think that is an excellent idea.
Loren–Would the site be able to do what Purrlcat suggested? And do you think it would be feasible to hold auctions on Ebay or other sites to raise money to sponsor the site.
If donations were made and auctioned off and the revenues went to the site, would Cryptomundo be supportive of that idea.
What are the monthly operating costs associated with maintaining Cryptomundo? You may post here or contact me privately. I have a couple of ideas that may be helpful. I have an animal rescue board and forum which is funded by me personally and have helped other forums raise money for certain projects. I am highly involved in charity work as I head committees or sit on the Board of Directors for several national charities. Some of the same marketing ideas that nonprofits use can be used by other sites that are for profit if that is the case.
The new site – it’s good for me. Apart from one little niggle…any chance of putting the Older and Newer articles buttons at the top of the page as well as the bottom. Saves wear and tear on my scrolling finger!
