Baroque Bigfoot (May 1st)

I have been informed of a unique spring performance of the USM Composers Ensemble, which will be taking place on the evening of Saturday, May 1st, 2010. It is a special Bigfoot piece to be performed by the ensemble, according to student Katie Gilchrest. Here is a link to her Facebook event announcement, here.
The official name of the performing body is the “USM Composer’s Ensemble” and what will be played is new music composed by students. Gilchrest has written a piece of music sympathetic to Bigfoot, in an early baroque style that involves a theremin. Nicole Rawding will be playing the theremin and the ensemble is directed by Daniel Sonenberg.
Look in the audience for various hidden friends of the International Cryptozoology Museum.
The poem that Gilchrest used, as a source of inspiration, is, as follows:
Sasquatch
Chased by all the human race
From the rocky mountains
To the great Swiss Alps.
Hunted down like a criminal
From Mexico to the polar caps.
Known as Bigfoot of the land,
A man in great despair.
His coat of wool, though, some may say,
Is just a coat of hair.
His footprints deep embedded
On snowy plains and muddy fields.
Unequaled to all others,
Throughout the land does fill
The hearts of those who look upon him
With fear and unknown rest.
To hunt him down would vanquish him,
Sasquatch,
Man’s final quest.

All who might be interested are welcome to attend for free. It is on May 1st, in Corthell Hall on the University of Southern Maine’s Gorham Campus at 8:00 pm. “Bigfoot” will be the last piece of ten music selections. The total program will be about an hour long.
I shall be in the audience, enjoying the music. Rumors of an alleged…well, you’ll have to wait to see about that.

Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
