New Johor Bigfoot Book
Posted by: Loren Coleman on June 6th, 2007
Sin Chew Daily journalist Lee Hoy Chin has written a new book Johor Bigfoot: The Beginning of the True Story after covering eyewitness accounts on the creature. The book is reported to be a compilation of newspaper reports on Bigfoot and other details not published in newspapers.
Many people are searching for the truth about Bigfoot and I hope this book can help them learn about the subject better. Many may argue that Bigfoot is just a superstition but I hope this book will pave the way for more research on the topic. – Lee Hoy Chin
The drawings from the hoaxed (“Johor Hominid”) episode in the midst of the real sightings are shown in the table of contents. I wonder if that means those illustrations are being used to show what the “Johor Bigfoot” looks like or the hoax is exposed in this volume? The author appears with his new book.

About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct).
Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
I’m curious as to why that drawing from the hoax debacle is mixed in there with the others too. Although I’d like to think that this book will delve into the more plausible Johor accounts and illustrate the fact that there could be something there despite the hoax, I have a bad feeling this is an money making venture. Maybe there is a huge potential market for crypto themed books in China. Two words, KA-CHING. Or is that one word? Anyway, hope I’m wrong about that.
first time here!
very interesting and
very fun.

And I guess I should add that I understand one of the reasons to publish books is to make money. What I meant by a “money making venture” is a hastily thrown together compilation of Johor Bigfoot articles, complete with stuff from the hoax somehow presented as real, the sole purpose of which is not to enlighten or inform, but to rake in some easy cash. I tend to like the books that educate as well as make money. 🙂 Again, I hope I am wrong about this book.
hey loren & everyone this new johor bigfoot book looks very interesting indeed, the cover looks good. when will it be availaible in usa in english. please keep me definetly informed ok. good afternoon bill green 🙂
Well, mystery_man: he does title it “The Beginning of a True Story.” Not “The Whole Truth.”
One thing that can be a bit frustrating – although I recognize it’s my own fault – is not knowing as much about the history of human encounters with other cryptids as I do about that of the sasquatch. But it’s my understanding – even though one of the ballyhooed footprints in the recent hooraw looked one heck of a lot like a rhino print to me – that there’s a history of sightings here, similar it appears to those of the orang pendek, in a region of the world that seems to specialize in primate diversity.
So let’s see a translation to English. 😉
hey loren once this new book about the johor hominids ie sasquatch is finaly available to book stores & the public etc its going to be a very conterversial book. thanks bill green
