Boston Pizza reveals new spokesperson in spring TV campaign

Loveable Louie makes his debut March 26

Richmond, BC, March 26, 2007 – Boston Pizza International today will launch a 30-second TV spot to unveil its new spokesperson named Louie – a tall, dark and hungry sasquatch-like character. Louie will make his debut on specialty TV channels across Canada beginning March 26. He will also star in Boston Pizza’s new Simply Italian promotion spot beginning April 2 on major networks across Canada.

The Louie spokesperson concept was created by DDB Canada in Vancouver.

“Boston Pizza has a reputation for using familiar faces to represent their brand. In looking for the next spokesperson, we mentally cast all kinds of people, and in the end chose a truly charismatic, one-of-a-kind individual,” says Daryl Gardiner, associate creative director at DDB Canada, Vancouver. “In Louie, we have found a big personality, someone instantly likeable who genuinely loves everything about Boston Pizza. We’re so pleased we’ve been able to coax him out of his previous habitat to join us.”

As a spokesperson-in-training, Louie will shadow an experienced Boston Pizza server and viewers will learn about Boston Pizza’s vast menu variety and fun dining atmosphere as he does.

“We’re excited to launch the next phase of Boston Pizza’s advertising strategy,” says Joanne Forrester, vice president of marketing corporate services, Boston Pizza International. “We’ve had tremendous success with celebrity spokespersons in the past, having John Ratzenberger in the mid 1990s and more recently, Howie Mandel. This new campaign introduces a new character that we think people will love while building on our ‘you’re among friends’ brand platform.”

It clearly takes a special, welcoming place like Boston Pizza to turn a reclusive, fleeting character like Louie into a loveable and personable spokesperson. To learn more about Louie, visit his blog at Tall Dark & Hungry.Boston Pizza

    Cool looking Sasquatch. His profile includes links to Wikipedia, Cryptozoology and BFRO. We need to change that last link to Cryptomundo, or no Boston Pizza for me.

  2. captiannemo responds:

    Hey!
    there is a hair in my pizza!

  3. harleyb responds:

    Yeah, I’d like an extra large Louie pizza with extra cheese yuummmy!! Oh delivery, totally.

  4. joppa responds:

    The hair I can stand, but I’m having a hard time with the funky smell these Pizzas have.

    Boston Pizza;
    So when are you serving sasquatch meatballs. What a moronic bunch you can bet I won’t go there. So this company takes cryptoids seriously…. So the sasquatch has evolved closer to being human, a alcoholic to a born again meatball popping pizza eating junky. This is another sad day for a reality gone backwards, no thanks to an advertising team with less brains then a sasquatch. I guess they need to sell their flesh somehow. Craig sorry for what may appear disrespectful, it is not intended to you or this site. I am boycotting Boston Pizza!

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
