MQ3

Posted by: Loren Coleman on January 17th, 2009

Season Three of MonsterQuest kicks off with its premiere on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009, at 8 pm Eastern/9 pm Central.

Their first show will tackle what they feel is “probably the most well-known of all crypto creatures: The Loch Ness Monster, and brings with it a dynamic new theory about the creature.”

Of course, because MQ3 is on a Yeti expedition right now, we know that at least one program will be about that topic.

Additionally, the episode titles for the first few shows are:

MonsterQuest: The Death of Loch Ness
MonsterQuest: Cattle Killers
MonsterQuest: Swamp Stalker
MonsterQuest: Devils in America
MonsterQuest: Gators in the Sewers
MonsterQuest: Snowbeast Slaughter
MonsterQuest: Mega Jaws
MonsterQuest: Monster Close Encounters

The insiders say, “Expect more action, better stories and bigger results as MonsterQuest takes the search for answers further than ever before!”

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

  1. MattBille responds:

It’s hard to imagine there could BE any new theories, let alone dramatic ones, about Loch Ness. Nearly every phylum in the animal kingdom, living or extinct, has been put forward, not to mention ghosts, interdimensional beings, and space aliens. I’ll be looking forward to the episode.

  2. Andrew Minnesota responds:

Looking at what’s listed I think there is a lot to get excited about 🙂 Devil’s in America I’m assuming is about the Jersey Devil which is always interesting and the close encounters one could be very interesting! I’m pretty excited for the new season thanks for the new Loren 🙂

  3. fmurphy1970 responds:

Being a Scot, I’m looking forward to the Loch Ness episode to start the new season of MQ off. The Ogopogo episode should be interesting when the team reveal their findings regarding the supposed ‘baby ogopogo’ carcass. Overall looks like a good series of topics coming up.
    Can’t wait!

  4. Cryptos responds:

I am very excited to see Season 3 take off. I’ve been missing it these past few weeks. February 4th is marked on my calendar. 🙂

  5. Viergacht responds:

Bigger results? As opposed to no results at all?

  6. coelacanth1938 responds:

Devils in America sound kind of interesting. There is a strong folklore tradition revolving around the Devil/Devils physically stomping around on American soil.

  7. maslo63 responds:

Quite a lot of those look interesting to me, some not so much. I assume “Cattle Killers” is about mutilations? I certainly hope not, that mystery IMO has been solved.

  8. Haley Fisher responds:

I wonder when the Ogopogo one will air. They told me it would be sometime in February. I wonder what “mega jaws” refers to — perhaps Megalodon?

  9. Dj Plasmic Nebula responds:

“The Death of Loch Ness” must be the Ogopogo.

  10. big max responds:

Excellent! Even though Monster Quest comes across as being a bit repititive to me with its format, at least there is a crypto series out there and the solid interest has resulted in a 3rd season. Episodes I would like to see are:
    – Living dinosaurs
    – Yowie, Australian hairy man
    – more lake monster investigations, e.g. Nahuelito, Lake Storsjon, Sweden’s many reports
    – Mongolain death worm
    – globsters – monster carcasses (washed up on beaches)
    – the Tasmanian Tiger (thylacine)
    – Almas – hairy man from the Urals
    – Bili ape
    – Orang-pendak
    – and of course, the yeti
Obviously, given the US base of this series, some of the above will be rather expensive to undertake, although the show has gone to China (Yeren) and Indonesia (Komodo dragon).
Plenty of scope for another series, I’d say. The focus should not just be on the rumoured or mythical, but like Loren’s site here, new species, or confirmed incidents, like the episode about large sharks in Illinois.
    Looking forward to it!

  11. Dr.fresh responds:

I am really looking for season 3, but i hope they actually find somthing this time. I am also curious as to what “swamp stalker” is about (lizard man?)

  12. Dj Plasmic Nebula responds:

Well golly, I hope Destination Truth gets better. I have hope for them. Actually I have more hope in MonsterQuest than Destination Truth. But ch’ya never know.

  13. Jordan Warner responds:

MonsterQuest: The Death of Loch Ness- Ogopogo and Nessie
    MonsterQuest: Cattle Killers- Big Cat
MonsterQuest: Swamp Stalker- Boggy Creek Creature, Fouke Monster
MonsterQuest: Devils in America- Jersey Devil
MonsterQuest: Gators in the Sewers- Gators
    MonsterQuest: Snowbeast Slaughter- Yeti
    MonsterQuest: Mega Jaws- Megaladon
MonsterQuest: Monster Close Encounters- Bigfoot Encounters

    Thats what I think.

  14. Uriah responds:

    “Snowbeast Slaughter”?

    “Devils in America”?

Wow, I thought that Producer said they were going to get serious?

These titles sound like Grindhouse Movies.

  15. cryptidsrus responds:

I’m particularly looking forward to “Alligators in the Sewers.” Reminds me of “Giant Rats in NY” last season. Also the Loch Ness episode, of course. It’s immaterial to me whether they “find” anything or not. What matters is that cryptid stories are put out there for the public and investigated. 🙂
