Really?!

(Jimmy Hendrix – Are You Experienced?)

For the most part I think we have been wasting our time with the media. They are not really interested in the science behind all of this… they want to know about the practical joker that claims to have been faking us all out. They think it is all a joke and that is sad… for them and us.

What the media wants from the Bigfoot community is our eccentricity and what they want from the skeptics is those logical explanations of our fallacies. We are a minority of our population. I don’t think we can ever hope to gain much from publicizing what we do with the subject.

Maybe someday it will all pan out, all the hard work of setting camera traps and maintaining them, walking trackless grounds for miles on end with your eyes to the ground, staying up late in the cold blasting away the god awfullest sounds this side of… well I would rather be listening to something else.

Did I ever mention that my early days in Bigfoot research had me spending quite a few nights in garbage dumps?

It is hard at times, you put in the work, you spend way to much time out in the rain and snow, you want to share some of your finding but its never enough. The media seem to be laughing at you, mocking as you film a show for them, the bigfoot community does the same and for the most part they dont even put the boot to the dirt. You feel like giving it up, i do anyway, i have seen them, i know they are out there, whats left to prove.Nothing for myself but i go right back to the search, i have remained in this forsaken town solely for the purpose of bigfoot.

Garbage dumps – Now thats dedication πŸ™‚ lol. Brave soul.

Well, I do think the quality of reports is increasing, this year I saw much fewer news and paper reports that were basically a big joke. The media does serve a purpose, and thats to get the word out, regardless of the reporters personal opinions, people who have sightings are starting to come forward more, and thats because the names of organizations are getting out there, by the media and internet. I do hope to see the quality of reports to continue to remain on a more serious level – I did see more than a couple this year.. Compared to other past years.

The media has a big role to play in this, should they decide to stop treating this issue as a joke.

One thing we can be confident of is that in future generations nobody will remember the skeptics. History remembers the ones who took the risks and made the sacrifices to finally get their prize. No one beyond their immediate family will ever remember any of the staff of Skeptical Enquirer or the reporter who made the comment to you; I believe history has a special oblivion for them.

I think we have to remember that the media are, in the final analysis, ambulance-chasers. The ambulance doesn’t chase the media. We shouldn’t worry about chasing the media. We should just worry about persevering in the search and let the media worry about chasing us.

This past weekend we found two good 14″ tracks in our area, not dermal quality but still good. The game is afoot (pun intended), and the media is invited to keep up with me, if they can…….

I enjoy hunting every year in the mountains of California and I promise you this, If Mr. Harryman or anything that looks remotely like him grabs my attention even if it’s a guy in a suit, I swear on my mothers grave, you guys will have your body. I won’t hesitate like some of these other guys I’ve heard of. I’ll shoot first and ask questions later and pack the body out even if I have to dismember it.

    Holy Cow – πŸ™

  7. TemplarKnight21c responds:

Yeah, but then you’d have a hefty lawsuit on your hands either way. Sasquatch was deemed an endangered species years ago, so aside from a hefty fine from the federal government, you’d have any number of animal rights enthusiasts filing personal suits against you for the next few decades.

Aside from that, these creatures have been known to live in family groups of 2-5 members. Would you REALLY want to risk making that many creatures of that size and strength angry while you’re in their territory? And can you really guarantee a clean kill shot on something you’ve never hunted before?

The odds are against you, pal.
