What do you make of it?

The following images are tied to a December 22, 2000, letter signed “God Bless. I prefer to remain anonymous,” mailed to the Sarasota (Florida) Sheriff’s Department. Two photographs were enclosed. They have been animated to demonstrate the changes visible between the photographs.

  1. Spinach Village responds:

The lack of info is frustrating and puzzling… never the less that creature looks extremely real (upright and swamp ape-ish). Whatever it is, I don’t think it is a human… my question would be related to the verification of the location….

Maybe the visible plant species holds clues,

    thanks for the post

  2. Lee Murphy responds:

Absolute fake. I was especially impressed as the subject awaited his “que” to start moving.

  3. Point Radix responds:

Reminds me of one of the recent bigfoot videos – subject hovers around in close range of the camera to be clearly visible, with just enough leaves and foliage conveniently in place to be indistinct. The earlier accounts, however, seemed to suggest this was a nocturnal species?

  4. bill green responds:

interesting new possible sasquatch filmfootage more research study enhandsments etc need to be done before saying authentic or hoax. someone needs to contact the person who filmed this primate or creature. with all the bad weather in florida it no wonder why the creatures are on the prowl more therefore they will be seen more often. thanks bill green

  5. noobfun responds:

wow thats an utterly amazing video

note the speedy jump up from a crouched position so fast it has to extend an arm for support and balance and to flex around (left) and swing its right to gain a little extra forward momentum to aid getting up fast before it takes off at at an incredible speed ………. a slow strole

not only that the fleeing animal then carrys on this ludicrously excessive speed until it reaches a clearing (a fleeing animal will take a path of least resitance or attempt to force its way through ) but not our man in a monkey suit *cough* i mean mayaka ape he reaches the clearing then decided to pull a 135 degre turn and almost head back on its self

maybe its learnt a new trick mimicry, if it acts like a guy in a monkey suit taking a stroll through the trees it will be ignored as such ……..

for anyone who thinks this is real i can supply still and video images of an out of place large black panther like cat asleep on top of my monitor for sale, it does appear to have a collar and bell but that is simply aa trick of the light and a strange mutation of its fur and my monitor is actually 5 feet wide which explains the lack of said catlike creature overhanging the edges

least its a better monkey suit then the one with the clearly rubberised 6-pack like those videos a while back

  6. mantis responds:

If I were armed with a camera, and had company out there with me, I would most deffinately chase that thing down for a closer shot. Even if it tore me limb from limb I would die knowing that I was the first.

  7. Richard888 responds:

I would describe this video using the keywords ‘frustrating’ and ‘authentic looking’. Whatever the creature on film was, it looks as big or bigger than a human. I sincerely hope more information comes out about this video. Thanks Loren!

  8. fmurphy1970 responds:

This clip is not complete. You can tell it’s been edited and composed of at least three clips stitched together. Why did the originator not publish the unedited version? That always makes me suspicious. Seems to convenient that the clip was taken near Myakka, Florida. The animal in the original shot doesn’t look like an upright bipedal ape to me. Looks more like its related to an orangutan. Creature in this video clip walks upright, but circumstances surrounding the clip make me think it’s faked.

  9. Galen responds:

As usual, the operator of the camera tries to film the creature to show as little details as it is possible. When the “animal” gets up- zoom goes off. Why?

  10. eireman responds:

Operative words: Youtube, Anonymous. ‘Nuff said.

  11. Artist responds:

“There is even less information about the individual …”
    Got THAT right!

  12. shumway10973 responds:

I wish the blair witch had never been filmed. Even though this footage wasn’t running thru the forest, they are still purposefully shaking the camera, pointing in the wrong directions and playing around with the focus at just the “wrong” times.

  13. Sunny responds:

@Bill Green — don’t know what weather reports you’ve been reading, but the weather down here in Freaky Florida has been anything BUT bad of late. No rain to speak of, and a couple of brush fires — but those are near Cocoa — a couple of hundred miles from Myakka. During the time that this supposed “encounter” occurred, we had highs in the upper 80s, lows in the lower 70’s, and clear, sunny skies with low humidity. Darned fine weather, actually.

In general: This looks *awfully* upright to be a primate…and looks to be having a little too much trouble maneuvering through the undergrowth to have lived there all its life.

  14. DWA responds:

“In general: This looks *awfully* upright to be a primate…”

Um, koffkoff, WE are a primate…

“……and looks to be having a little too much trouble maneuvering through the undergrowth to have lived there all its life.”

Oh, THAT I can go with, for sure. If you airdropped me there, I wouldn’t have that much problem.

But can I hire it for my next party? (The ape. NOT MY GOD THE CAMERAMAN…)

  15. DWA responds:

    shumway10973:

QUIET! YOU’RE TELLING THEM HOW TO FAKE IT RIGHT!

I would actually be dying to see a good fake around now. I’m half hoping Patty’s fake by this point.

  16. Spinach Village responds:

    Upon further Spinach review:

Well, I don’t take pleasure in “debunking” things for the sake of debunking…. this video warrants further investigation in my opinion…

My first view was last night while I had a couple beers, but I still like this.

(not sure why the frames are put together like a Woody Allen film or something), but I just don’t think it looked like a human.

The lack of sound is curious also.

I think they ran the clip through a couple filters and thats why it repeats 3 times.

For those expecting a perfectly framed Bigfoot video as if they are at the zoo or something; I think that that is asking for a lot. Based on that criteria they would always be skeptical until they see one of these North American primates in a zoo or circus for that matter.

  17. WIDOW responds:

Wow that was a bad video. I guess the skunk ape is depressed and paces back and forth working out his thoughts. I am very tired of the fake videos out there and poorly produced at that! Send that clown back to film school. At least this person’s film work would have made Ed Wood proud!

  18. sausage1 responds:

    Well I’m convinced!

Can we all go home now?

  19. things-in-the-woods responds:

good to see a new video- haven’t had one for a while- but really this does look a bit dodgy (if indistinct enough to leave just a sliver of interest).
As has been said the behaviour of the creature is pretty odd (but then who knows how a skunk ape is supposed to behave), but the main problem for me is that this just doesnt look like what we’ve been told a SA looks like- it looks much more like the traditional BF/man-in-a-monkey-suit.

ultimately, however, as DWA repeatedly says, stuff like this isnt gonna get us anywhere in either direction.

  20. CryptoGoji responds:

This one is almost too easy to have to comment on. You never really get a good view of the creature and it just paces back and forth totally oblivious to the close proximity to the camera. I say hoax and double hoax. Just another man in a suit, and not a great suit at that.

  21. cryptidsrus responds:

If it is a hoax (i.e. man in a suit) it’s one of the best ones I’ve seen.

This is a reasonably convincing video—but I agree too “vague”.

    It does look edited.

I believe, so I’m looking at it through rose-colored glasses, but I think we should withhold total judgment until we can get more information. Which I doubt Mr. Anonymous Filmmaker will provide.

    (Sigh).

    One can dream…

  22. nytedrgn responds:

Video reminds me of a person walking around aimlessly while on camera (I could be wrong).

Picture looks like a chimpanzee with more fur on the arms.

Could possibly be that someone is playing a prank, but I could be wrong.

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
